It isn’t in fact the Mercedes-Maybach S650. The most expensive Mercedes is the ,Mercedes-AMG Project One, (Hypercar). It was unveiled a few months ago with a price of ,$2,800,000,. Acually a bargain considering it has the actual F1 engine that trashed Ferrari and has been dominating the sport for the past few years. Also another thing to consider is that they’re only making a few of these and basically they’re all sold (more people have asked Mercedes to purchase the car than the number of cars that will be made) which means like almost every other Mercedes exotic it’ll become a classic and appreciate (Like the CLK GTR). To me the Project One seems like a big middle finger to McLaren. McLaren used to use Merc engines in their F1 cars but tried to be ‘smart’ and switched to Honda when their contract expired (which hasn’t gone very well; they’ve got the one of the best drivers and are coming last). McLaren went back to Merc to try get engines for the next year but Merc declined. So what did Merc do? Introduce a road car with the same engine McLaren desperately wants in F1, call it the Project One (The McLaren hypercar is called the P1, which is basically short for a project 1) and then they make the front of the car look very similar to McLaren’s old car, the F1. Well played Benz. After this the next most expensive Mercedes is the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman Guard (the facelift S650 hasn’t come out yet for this one). Coming in at 5.5 tons with a price tag of ,$1,600,000, there isn’t anything else much like it. It’s mainly for heads of state as it’s fully armoured and has its own air supply (for emergencies). It’s powered by the 6.0l Bi-Turbo V12. This is not to be confused with the Mercedes-Benz S600 Pullman, which is ,almost, the same but a tad less luxurious. You also get the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman (non guard version, which is basically without armour protection). Pullman - the long limo wheelbase and guard - amoured It's certified at resistance class VR9 and blast proof to comply with ERV2010 standards.
