Thanks 📷 Ionel M My Godson is very happy with his new car, also the first for him! Thank you very much! 🎁👌 It would be soooo cool to have a car like Mum and Dad's BMW, but only if they knew how to drive their new Beamer. https://t.co/b6eFKrcXQa https://t.co/9BgP37GMbs
Thanks 📷 @___justkatie___ It would be soooo cool to have a car like Mum and Dad's BMW, but only if they knew how to drive their new Beamer. Lucky for them though, this new RiRoo Bmw I8 Style 2020 allows them to take the controls & be in full control. https://t.co/2yE1ofVIBR https://t.co/jegTEvWBkg

@BMW_UK Is the woman laughing about the guy in the beamer?
I know it sounds crazy, but I think I want a 7 series Beamer before a 550 Benz…like unless I could just get a Benz that would be a coupe V12 I legit would be satisfied goin a step lower with a BMW
@BMW The one you’re going to call me and& tell me I won? Pearl White outside, black leather inside, 2022 BMW iX. I’m not getting any Christmas gifts, I didn’t decorate or put up my tree. I’ve had an unforgettably awful year that I just want to end but a new Beamer might help my mood😶
If you own a bmw...please have the money to get ya bumper fixed...don’t think cause it’s a Beamer you can just drive around With ya side mirrors broken nd back bumper falling off
@driver_choice BMW fan boys would pick a Beamer over anything… all boils down to preference
@bmwindia Hey beamer, I adore you from my childhood and I still do. But I miss the front grill. Anyways love the way you are! #bmw @BMW @bmwindia
Beemer Bimmer There’s a big difference. You’ll occasionally find people with both (like me at various times) but mostly people line up on one side of the other (also like me - life member of the BMW Motorcycle Owners Association, haven't had a BMW car in years and years) No clue as to etymology but it looks sort of obvious Bavarian Motor Works; B-M-er, a thing that comes from said works (a prior word for “factory”) One of my fellow motorcyclists observes the motorcycles significantly pre-dated the cars do we got first pick on the naming. Maybe, maybe not - but it’s a good story
I am personally not much of a car enthusiast. The other car I have is a Toyota Corolla - yeah, not too exciting. And I sold my 2010 Toyota Matrix to get the Model 3. Everyone gets a Tesla for a reason. Mine was the practicality and less maintenance. No more oil changes for this guy!
Hey, my heart's RPM crosses redline when I see you. My eyes lit up like BMW's beamers when you pass by. I just can't stop my heart revving when you smile. Whole body feels like turbo and the nitrous ignites everything around me when you are with me. I think you are the only one who can stop my clutch slipping. I would like you to be the Pistons of my heart for lifetime drive. Will you?
There are loads, with many regional variations. In the UK and maybe other places - Fords, used to be called ,‘Dagenham Dustbins’, (when they used to be made there) Peugeots, are often referred to as ,‘Pugs’ A ,Rolls-Royce, is a ,‘Roller’ BMW-era Minis, from 2002 are ,‘Binis’ ,(as opposed to earlier real Minis) Volkswagens,, (particularly older ones) can be ,‘Vee-Dubs’ Honda-based ,Rover ,group cars were nicknamed ,‘Rondas’ Porsches, are still called ,‘Porkers’ An old ,Land-Rover ,is a ,‘Landie’ The list is almost endless. Even funnier names are sometimes given to particular models, the ,Ford Capri ,was a ,‘Crapi’, ,the ,Austin Allegro, became, ‘All-Aggro,’ and a ,Range-Rover ,becomes a ,‘Rangie’. Nissan has shot itself in the foot with a couple of daft model names in recent years. it’s strong-selling ,Qashqai ,is either referred to as a ,‘Cashcow’ ,or, as ,Top Gear ,once stated, ,‘Kumquat’,, which got a few owners needlessly upset at the time. The other one is the ,Juke,, which to no-one but Nissan’s surprise is always called a ,’Joke’, - it just has to be, given that it looks, (and in many ways) is a bit of a joke as a car…
The terms Bimmer, Beemer or Beamer refer to BMW s. Bimmer is the correct term for BMW cars while Beemer and Beamer are used for BMW motorcycles. BMW started big in motorcycles and was very active in motorsports then. One of its biggest competitors at the racing track was BSA, which was also a big name in motorcycles. Since BSA motorcycles were known as Beesers, BMW fans decided to call BMW motorcycles Beemers. Over time, people started to use the term Beamer. BMW went on to design and manufacture cars which subsequently outshone their two-wheeler cousins. The BMW car enthusiasts wanted a new term to differentiate cars from motorcycles and coined the term Bimmer. BMW’s logo is a tribute to the company’s history in aviation. The logo shows a propeller in motion with the blue part representing the sky. This is due to the company’s role of building aircraft engines for the German military during World War II...
190 kmph I had my friend's beamer on Mumbai-Pune highway. This was the first time I had taken this car on the highway and had only one crazy friend of mine on the shotgun. It was around 5:30pm and I saw a long clear path. As I got passed the 150+ kmph mark, I set my eyes straight on the road in full focus. I saw the speedometer again with 168 kmph and then again at 174. At this time I even stopped blinking my eyes and I could feel the vibrations. While I was cruising around 180+ I heard a car honk behind me and I didn't wanna remove my eyes from the road even for a milli sec to look at the mirror. As I decided to slow down I saw the speedometer at 190. I slowed down and moved to the middle lane and a ,Nissan GTR, shot just like a rocket beside me and disappeared in a few seconds. I saw it again in the city and my friend was able to get this picture. Edit: I appreciate all the upvotes., ,A 'beamer' means a BMW.
A lot of cars will have their names reduced in slang . BMW = Beamer , BM's . Mercedes Benz = Merc . Volkswagen = VW . Jaguar = Jag . Chevrolet = Chevy. Subaru = Scubie . All of which are name abbreviation. There are some other derogatory nicknames like. Yank tank = big American cars or JAP scrap = early iterations of Japanese cars, not very relevant now . I am sure I have missed a lot of others, but I will leave it at that .
This Bavarian beauty is my current daily driver. A BMW 650i (E63) model. 360 ponies and lots of torque. I have previously owned a Mercedes E Class E500 with close to similar performance, a Jaguar Xtype and a Subaru Legacy twin turbo. I confess that I am afflicted with a need for speed. How do the cars compare? Of the cars I've owned i'd say the closest in terms of product to the Bima would be the Mercedes. While torquey and fast, the throttle response for the Mercedes was not as immediate as that of the BMW. It eventually did kick in but the delay or lag was noticeable. And its not just me on the issue of the lag. Mercedes utilise an electronic throttle that had been tuned this way. So there are companies manufacturing work arounds such as a Speed Booster which I ended buying for my Mercedes. The Jaguar though a smaller engine did have a certain immediacy to it that could rival the thrill of the Beamer. Handling- the Beamer again had the Mercedes beat hands down. The Mercedes felt heavy and lunky around bends and would rarely keep its composure. There was a lot a body roll. The Beamer on the other hand is always composed almost daring you to push it to see whose limits would give in first.I normally chicken out before I can get her to anything remotely close to her limits across bends. The Jag again handled surprisingly well for an underpowered inferior model around corners. Maintainance- the Beamer has so far been quite unkind to me. That being said I was the second owner for both the Beamer and Mercedes. The Jag though takes the cake for unreliability. Had almost bought an entirely new car in replacement parts before a friend crashed it. The Subaru still gave me id say 80%of the giggles and was as reliable as a Toyota. Its greatest flaw was the turbo lag but on the plus side it was a 2 litre engine which meant it was significantly more fuel efficient. So driving a Beamer is relative to what cars you are comparing the experience to. From my limited sample i'd say its probably the most thrilling car Ive ever owned but that experience comes at a price.
As I was pulling into my local sub shop, I noticed a man and a woman getting out of a BMW and going in the same shop. When I got out of my cheap old car, as I walked by the beamer, I noticed they were in a handicap spot and had no sticker. When I went in, they were seated at a table, waiting on their order. I was ordering carry out. When my order was ready, as I passed them to leave, I said to the man, the driver, “That sure is a beautiful automobile you have out there”. He smugly replied “Yes, it certainly is”. I said “It's a shame you had to park it right by the door in the handicap spot with no sticker”. He said “Why do you have to be such an asshole?” Mind you now, it's a Friday night, the place is packed, but there were plenty of regular spots available. I said, with at least 25 people looking “You are the asshole for parking there, not me”, and walked out. I know it won't change Mr Important, but I felt good saying it anyhow. EDIT: To all of you who are saying that you might have a handicap that isn't obvious and I shouldn't judge, I am NOT judging you. If you got a doctor to OK your sticker or plate, I feel sorry for you for having a problem. I thank God that I don't. What I am saying is if you DON'T have the right to park there, no handicap, no sticker, no placard, no plate, just plain lazy or think you are better than everyone else, then stay the @#$! out of the spot so someone who actually needs it can use it! By the way, the idiot that I said this to didn't deny it, they both laughed about it!
