Yeah, let's get all that down-force. Do you really need it or is it just for the looks, like this ebay mini spoiler? If you own a first generation Audi TT (model 8N) without a spoiler, like the one bellow, then you should add it. At high speeds, the car starts to lose traction on the rear wheels, which has caused a lot of accidents. Audi fixed this by installing small spoilers and offered retrofitting spoilers for early models. It didn’t look that good, but it saved lives. BONUS: Installing a spoiler just for the looks Now a small disclaimer, this is my opinion and tastes are different so feel free to disagree. I personally only like the design changes that when you first see it, you immediately think “this could be stock”, nothing excessive. With that in mind let me continue. If you own a normal ,VW Golf,, put a GTI spoiler on it. If you already have a GTI then put a GTI Clubsport spoiler on it, and so on. If you own a ,BMW 430d,, get that sweet M4 carbon lip. If you have a ,Toyota Supra, MK4, don't touch anything you're just going to decrease its value. Thanks for reading the whole post☺
Long ago I came to the conclusion that there was no such thing as a bad car. What was good in one person’s eyes could easily be bad from another person’s viewpoint. For example Mercedes cars are not for me. Their cars feel heavy. Even my sister-in-law’s 230 SLK feels like a heavy car even though it’s sports car. To someone else Mercedes cars feel glued to the road. BMW on the other hand if they are purchased with a sport suspension can be tossed into corners. I find cars that handle this way more fun to drive. So is BMW better than Mercedes? The answer is in the eys of the beholder. Mercedes had been criticized as being overly complex. There was a time that Mercedes had hydraulics to silently operate many items where other cars used electric motors. And I guess there was someone who wanted power windows with variable speeds. But if you want safety, Mercedes is your car. I was once told that when a Mercedes was in an accident, Mercedes technicians were often on the scene before the police. They questioned the driver who would often tell them things they would withhold from police. Then the technicians went back with information they could use to make their cars safer. But back to BMW. For me they have moved away from being “The Ultimate Driving Machine”. They are now much more luxurious because that’s what customers wanted. My 1998 M3 was a car that could be driven at the limit because the tires could control the power. The newer M4’s are beasts with over 400 hp and if you turn off the compter that manages to powere you had better be a damn good driver. As for extended warranties, the buyer is betting the car is less reliable than the manufacturer thinks it is. And lastly, a Beemer is a BMW motorcycle and a Bimmer is a BMW automobile.
Without a doubt, the most fun car to drive would be the ,Mazda Miata/Mazda Mx-5. Now… Why would I choose this car over cars made by Subaru, BMW, Mercedes Benz, etc? The handling of the car is superb. ,The Miata is so light and well balanced that it feels like a go-kart for the streets. Especially if you throw on stickier tires, tighten the suspensions, and add some sway bars, the car will definitely feel railed to the road in mountain ranges. The Miata listens to your commands and is very capable. The acceleration of the car feels fast. ,Yes, with about 115whp (Miata NB), this definitely does not tickle any pickles. However, understand that since this car is extremely small and light, when you floor the car in first gear, you WILL feel speed. The throttle response in 1st and 2nd gear is pretty darn good. I personally feel my body being thrown back into my seat (slightly lol) when I redline in first gear. Now, with the Miata, there is a HUGE amount of potential to increase it’s power for less money than more exotic cars. The car is more fun than expensive European cars because it is CHEAP. ,What I mean by this is that you are at less loss if you drove this car and got into an accident. Because of this, you can have more fun because you do not need to hold back as much when driving it. For example, I drove a BMW M4 pretty hard through mountain ranges. The M4 is a VERY capable car, but did I have more fun driving it than the Miata? NO… because since I knew the value of M4, I drove it much more reserved while keeping its value in mind. Also, if I were to get into an accident in the Miata, the burn on my wallet will be greatly reduced compared to if I crashed the M4. So if money is not a big factor and you feel that you can drive other exotic cars without any slight doubt of the aftermath (financially enduring the fees) if an accident were to occur, then I’d say go for those cars then. Like I had said, I am not as afraid of crashing a Miata than a M4. Some will argue that if you drive well, then there should be no fear. But when you are in the moment, and you try to exceed each lap faster than the last, the fantasy of how capable the car can perform may begin to conflict with actual physics, then who knows? I’d definitely rather loose $6000 from a Miata than $22,000 from a used M3.
Its a horrible car for a first timer and let me explain why as someone who races and aspire to create my own car brand in the future. Tesla are good cars without doubt and their extremely safe. Tesla are unique in that because their electric the mass of the car is low in the center without sacrificing space. This means it has the balance of a mid-engine sport car but the practicality of a family car. In essence, having a mid-engine layout means that the center of mass won’t be imprecise meaning it will be extremely precise. However that where all the safety ends apart of the crash safety. Maintenance wise…. If you have the money maintenance is not an issue just like any luxury car, however, keep in mind that Tesla have a very bad reputation of very bad factory build quality and tend to leak water inside the cabin. In addition, the body panels for Tesla are a pain in the ass and this are the worst thing about Tesla. I have a Maserati, a Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, a Mercedes-Benz, and other luxury car brands. And I have NEVER SEEN a car brand that is super hard and laborious to just change a body panel. The problem is that because Tesla is very bureaucratic with its car, just prepare for a lot of bullshit. I had Maserati, Ferrari, and Lamborghini and they are less bullshit about their cars in comparison with Tesla. Money cannot buy to stop the amount of bullshit Tesla service is. Now in why the safety part…. I bet she learned how to drive in a normal car, if that is the case, there is a problem. The problem about Tesla is that is not that they are powerful, but because it is electric, electric cars tend to have extreme acceleration and I mean it. Imagine your daughter who is an amateur or a rookie in the middle of a traffic and then she accidentally accelerate too much and crash the car in front of her, this stuff happens a lot with Tesla. Your daughter will literally be more safe in a BMW M3 or even in a Lamborghini Urus than in a Tesla in that regard. In addition to that, don’t trust the pilot driving in the car just look up all the accidents that had happened before. However, there is another thing and is that she must be super careful when driving in with a mid engine car due to the fact that even though it is precise if you lose your handling and go off turning in circle there is no way to stop the car unless it is hit or stop by an external force. However, for this part just make sure your daughter is not stupid or a dumb ass as many people at my age and other. In addition, Tesla and almost all electric cars tend to have a tiny accident called Battery Fire. Literally, when an electric car crashes just pray to God that it doesn’t catch on fire because if it does (which tends to happens a lot in big crashes or randomly). It will burn up really fast, really horrible, and non stop for a long time. The most dangerous part of this car is that its BOTH a performance vehicle AND a family car., Why is this dangerous? Because if your going to let your daughter have a performance car you don’t want it to be as practical as it could be because this shit can happen: I don’t think like other people do that a Honda Civic is a great first car. Lets be honest its fucking ugly and lacks good dynamic and enjoyment. However, as someone who have experience is race car and performance vehicle. If your daughter want to have a good performance vehicle that isn't a Miata and its pretty powerful, I recommend a to buy her a coupe in that regard. Why? because she doesn’t get to invite to much people in her car. The less practical the better because she will be less prone to do dangerous stupid thing just to impress her stupid friends. An SUV is excellent as she won’t break the bumper as I did. lol. However, SUV has a disadvantage and is that their center of mass is too high up and SUV are more prone to flip over than any other performance vehicle. And if you still don’t care about that then here is a list of all the car that I recommend beside a Tesla. If she is looking for a cool car just to make her look cool here is a list between that price range: Coupes Audi RS 5 Porsche Cayman (for insurance I don’t recommend any convertible that isn’t hardtop) BMW M4 Sedan Audi A7 Alfa Romeo Giulia Porsche Panamera The back seats are super uncomfortable so thats why I put it in the list and its a car that you can handle it really well BMW M3 SUV Porsche Macan Porsche Cayanne Genesis GV80 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck Ford F-150 Raptor The only one I approve
Question: “,I'm 18 years old, and I currently own a Ford Mustang GT. I would like something a bit faster and more comfortable, is the BMW M4 a decent car as a replacement? I would probably look at a slightly used one.” A teenage boy owning a BMW M4? (As you have failed to put anything meaningful in your Quora Profile I must rely on the impression you have made by your limited posts and your avatar to answer this.) You can't afford it. You can’t insure it. Therefore you can’t even register it. You can’t drive it. Edmunds lists the real cost (taxes, financing, fuel costs, insurance, maintenance, repairs) of owning a BMW M4 over five years as $85,968. That is for an adult. Your insurance costs, ,if, you could find ,any, company that would even consider insuring an 18 year old boy, would be much higher. The yearly maintenance cost for a new M4 is $2,781, ,if, you don’t break anything. As a teenage boy you will break things and be involved in accidents. Your costs will be much higher. If you buy a used M4 your costs will be much higher. As a teenager you would have, at best, a high school education. You have thus not yet acquired any job skills. Your income would place you in the bottom percentiles. You cannot afford it. No reputable insurance company would even consider insuring a BMW M4 owned and driven by teenage boy. Your age and sex alone place you in the highest risk category. If you have had any moving violations (highly probably for a teenage boy who drives, as you claim, a Mustang GT) you would be even less insurable. If you did find some company who would insure you, the rates would be beyond your ability to pay them. And, if you could not insure the car, you could not register it and, thus, could not legally drive it. You could not drive an M4. You have had extremely limited driving experience. As you are only 18, you are not yet old enough to be eligible for most high performance driving schools. And you would not have ever participated in any track day event. Extensive professionally taught performance car driver training and lots of hours at track day would be necessary before you would be qualified to drive an M4. Your driving skills, like your income, would place you in the bottom percentile of all drivers. The BMW M4 was designed for competition in events such as the ,Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters,. It is marketed to and driven by high skilled amateurs. As a teenage boy you are not in that league. Moreover, there is the additional problem that, as a juvenile, you cannot sign a contract, and you cannot under law be held to the terms of a contract. Thus, no reputable dealership would risk selling you an expensive car. And no bank would loan you the money to buy it.
In my experience, as a bmw loyalist, we are so loyal because we’ve found that the car suits our needs. Older ones are modifiable to hold decent power, and more than enough to race, while also maintaining high quality handling, despite their age. The new ones are brutes, as exemplified with the new M5, for M4 GTS, which are both just absolutely bonkers in terms of performance. Not to mention, they’re safe. I’ve seen people get in accidents hitting trees, getting rear ended w children in the back, etc, all in E30’s, and everyone has walked away. I’ve rarely seen someone killed in an old BMW accident. Even the new ones are safe from what I understand. The middle aged bmw’s are a combination of the old and new, quick and agile from the factory, but also relatively modifiable to become quicker. And also safe, aside from the mid-2000’s airbag defect.
Subaru WRX I'm going to have a family one day & that means I need a car that says “responsible” and “grocery getter”. It needs to be “safe” and not driven sideways. The WRX is the perfect car for that. BMW M4 By far my favorite Bimmer. Probably painted the most obnoxious color imaginabe and to be driven exactly as pictured above. Aston Martin Vanquish Besides Vanquish probably being the coolest name a car has ever been named the car can be customized (just like in the movies) by Q. Q let's you do some pretty cool things like change the color of the carbon fiber itself. (The guy at the Aston dealer told me how they did it but I honestly don't remember) I want every 007 upgrade available, ejecting driver & passenger seats, mounted shotguns, and flames shooting out the back. I don't want flames if it's going to catch on fire like the Aventador though. If it were possible turning my car invisible is a great way to get my imaginiary Aston destroyed in a car accident. Maybe I'll just stick to red seats with white stitching. Tesla Roadster Most people who aren't into cars aren't even going to know what this is if you pull up in it. The front “grill” of Teslas are sealed because they don't have radiators and have no need for air which makes them look aggressive and almost alien. This car is a game changer. 100% electric but can match the performance of some of the best petrol engines. I can't wait to start seeing these on the roads. Jaguar F-Type Coupe It's good to be bad.
Original Question: What is the type of race where I can race my car? If you’ve never had any experience with car racing before, you’d be ,very, ill-advised to enter your car, presumably a standard road car, into any race. In fact, and depending on the country in which you live, I doubt you’d be allowed to do so. Certainly, here in the UK in order to enter any such events you need to hold a current motorsport competition licence, which comes in various grades depending on your experience and the type of race you want to enter. If you do want to take your road car on the track under competitive conditions, look to find out about so-called track days which are held at many motor racing circuits. Here, you can take your usual road car onto the track and ‘compete’ against other drivers doing the same. However, all such events are at the drivers’ own risk and you and you alone are responsible for the cost of any damage you might cause to either your own car or to the venue itself. Furthermore, if you cause an accident or damage to another vehicle on the track, depending on the circumstances you could be deemed liable for that too. Normal car insurance certainly doesn’t cover any such use. This is a list of the requirement you need to meet before entering your road car on one of the track days at Silverstone, one of the UK's leading race tracks where the Formula 1 British Grand Prix is held - ,Car track days Terms and Conditions - Silverstone, - and I’m sure they’ll be similar to those for any track anywhere. Track days can be great fun! I’ve participated in several over the years, and I took my current car, a BMW M4 Competition Pack, on such a day not long after I bought it a couple of years ago as a good way of exploring the limits of its performance and road holding. But I do have many years of experience of competition driving behind me... If you do want to enter motorsports, start off at a local club level. Most such car clubs have members of all age groups and experience levels, and it’s perhaps the easiest route to take to get practical advice from people who’ve ‘been there, done that’.
They actually do…but they still may be over over $100k so, you may not notice them as much :) If you look at MSRP for a new 2004 Gallardo or a 2005 f430, or the real bargain, a 360 (although manual versions of these are holding/increasing their values due to supply/demand) and look at their used values today, they are at approx. half price….even less sometimes for cars “with stories” ie accidents, exceptionally high mileage, used as rentals etc. But the main reason these cars hold their value well, is low production numbers and high brand prestige. Porsche and BMW have both watered down the prestige of their brands with entry level models like Boxster, Macan, 1 to 3 series, such that they are now very ubiquitous. Their desirability keeps them from going to bargain basement prices, except for the least desirable models like a Mondial for example. So its rare for Ferrari/Lambo to depreciate to much less than 50%. Theres a certain comfort in owning a fully depreciated exotic car. And while the performance may not rival the newer models, theyre certainly fast enough to get you in trouble if you seek it. That said, if youre looking for an “affordable” Lamborghini for say $30k, forget it. If you found one, the maintenance required to get it sorted out, would bankrupt you. Theres a saying : the cheapest Ferrari is usually the most expensive Ferrari. And as some highly desirable models have shown, the converse is also true (as they may actually appreciate in value).
