Review Q&A bmw m5 accessories

Is braking gradually over a longer distance better or worse for your brakes than stopping more suddenly?

Do not brake continuously on any vehicle unless it uses a method other than standard hydraulic brakes. Braking continuously causes heat build up which would then be transmitted to your pads and fluid rapidly. This is called brake fade and is a major issue when non-prepped cars’ owners decide to do track time. By braking hard intermittently, it minimizes the chance for the pads and fluid to overheat, while also allowing the brake rotor to cool off (by spinning), regaining efficiency. There are cases where continuous mild braking is actually useful, such as when you have regenerative braking, which puts a load on the drive-train through either attached accessories (such as what BMW’s Efficient Dynamics accomplishes on non-electric autos), or directly though an attached electric motor acting as a generator to recharge drive-train batteries on an electric or hybrid vehicle. Even then it is hard to tell when the transition from regenerative braking to hydraulic braking occurs. I know on my old 2011 BMW 123d the transition was quite aggressive and noticeable until I had a computer update during a scheduled service. For those who are wondering why a non-electric car needs regenerative braking it is actually quite important these days. Nearly all sub-systems on a car are electric powered, except for the Air Conditioner compressor (and these are also becoming electric from what I have seen). That means the water pump, oil pump, power steering, and brake assist no longer create a parasitic loss of power and fuel efficiency on the motor. And this in turn gives you a surprising amount of increased fuel economy. So now all these are electric, they must be powered by a rather large battery, which is then charged by a similarly high power alternator. (They are very large now compared to those of a few years ago. Often they can put out 400 Amps+!) By having all these powered off the battery, the alternator can be programmed to run under very specific situations, for example when braking. A 400 Amp load on your drive-train would actually slow you down quite effectively when you need to casually brake. By moving the battery charging to times that the motor has to run but otherwise is not contributing to anything is a way to harness otherwise wasted fuel. They actually get official EPA fuel ratings using these techniques and have ran into legal issues in the past because they have adjusted the programming which impacted the fuel economy. My favorite story is the current BMW M5. Basically, they have to replace the battery every oil change. Let me try to explain it in as few words as possible. Knowing how regenerative braking works from my lesson above, you should be aware that even 500HP+ motors are being included with this technology. So the problem with the big BMW is with American’s driving habits. We tend to hop on the freeway and drive many miles. Well the M5 is programmed to run off the battery until it gets to an exceptionally low voltage. Waiting so long helps with fuel economy but once the car senses the opportunity to recharge, it slams the battery with hundreds of amps to charge it back up. Well typical car batteries aren’t meant for this deep cycling, so the batteries are kicking the bucket quite quickly. And to keep from really p*ssing off owners, they apparently are preemptively replacing them during routine oil changes. This is besides the fact they had to lower the oil change interval because the motors are burning oil since the typical M5 customer doesn’t drive it hard enough to properly break in the motor!

Why do people who love driving fancy cars (Mercedes-Benzes, BMWs, Porsches, etc.), end up getting cheap cars later?

There are a few reasons, and perhaps it might help to give some context. I recently bought a Mercedes C32 AMG, which, just yesterday I returned to the dealer for a refund. Now the car was great! When it worked; which was probably only for about 5 days in the whole month I owned it. The issue is electronic and the dealer tried their best to figure out what was wrong but they just couldn’t pinpoint the problem. The engine was great, interior was great. But it ended up being a really nice looking garden accessory. We also have an Audi Q5. It is currently at the dealer with an electronic handbrake issue. I have owned a 1989 Toyota Land Cruiser for about 5 years. It has NEVER left me stranded anywhere. It has a simple 4l petrol 6 cylinder engine with a carburetor. The electronics are limited to a digital clock and a Sony front loader. It has no parking sensors, no ABS, no electric seats or rain-sensing wipers. It has a mechanical four-wheel-drive system. I have to get out of the car to lock the wheel hubs manually and then clunk it into low range with an actual lever. Safety equipment includes… Seat belts. So while people who drive fancy cars may end up getting cheaper cars, I think it is often more a case of getting simpler cars, where less can go wrong. Personally I’d love to get another high performance German sedan or coupe. An Audi S5 maybe or BMW M5 V10. But there will always be that nagging worry in the back of my mind… What will go wrong today?

When will electric cars be better than gasoline ones?

Jason's is a little bit too pessimistic and Mike is a little bit too optimistic :) First of all I should mention that P85D is performance version of Tesla S. It means it really is not the best choice for average Model S buyer. So when we compare S with other vehicles we should choose "something in between". Let's start. Few days ago Tesla announced that 60kWh model is discontinued and replaced by 70D (plus many other standard equipment stuff changed). This is great news. //I live in Europe so I will use Euros// 70D costs 64k€, a reasonably equipped (better seats, color, autopilot, cold weather) 70D costs 70k€. So let's assume that we get reasonable Model S with reasonable performance for average people for 70k€. Now let's choose competitor from BMW. Should we choose 7.series? No! 7.series base costs 88k€-150k€ so even 88k€ costs more. Should we choose 5.series? Yes. Sedan or Touring? Touring as then we have more comparable luggage space. So BMW F11 base costs 46k€-90k€ depending on performance. Let's choose comparable performance. Tesla: AWD 0-100 5,4sec with auto.transm. For BMW we should choose 535xd (AWD 0-100 5,3 with ATM), base price 66k€. Now let's pump up 535xd with similar features Model S has for 70k€. Color, seat/steering heating, keyless, rear camera, el.seats with memory (low comfort seats), parking sensors, autonomous heating, highbeam assistant, lanechange, driverassistplus, navigation, internet, digital cluster, speedlimitwarning, bluetooth.. all together 14k€. So we get 66k€+14k€=80k€. It means that comparable 5.series costs 10k€ more. Is BMW 7.series more "luxurious" than 70D? Yes. Is Merc S.class more luxurious? Yes. But they both really cost way more. Is BMW 3.series more luxurious? No. Is Model S more luxurious than 5.series? They are similar. Don't forget that we do not compare BMW M5 with 70D but 335xd for 80k€. There is a difference. To get that top notch on 5. series you have to add a lot of extras (extended leather, comfort seats, individual accessories, adaptive drive, +30 more options). That top notch is not free. Average European does not buy fully equipped 5.series. It costs 78k€ more than 66k€ base 335xd. This is important. Do not mix that luxurious stuff. Same with S.class. You do not get those things you see in reviews for free. Lets go back to the fact that comparable 70D and 535xd have 10k€ price difference. So from Mike list: 1. Passengers - Tesla can seat 7 and 5.series 5. But Tesla's rear seats have a little less headroom than 5.series. So neither is better. 2. Acceleration - 0-100 times between two comparable vehicles are almost the same. In bad weather Tesla is better. At speeds above 150km/h/100mph BMW is better. In city Tesla is better. In real life Tesla is better. So advantage is on Tesla. 3. Handling - BMW 5. series without those expensive extras is comparable with Tesla. I do not have information which one is better. 4. Gas mileage - incomparable. 5. CO2 emissions - no questions. Tesla is a winner. Forget battery@landfills myth. 6. Tailpipe - diesel is/will be banned in some cities. No questions Tesla wins. 7. Luggage - Tesla has more litres. But touring BMW can fit 2 full size washing machines (I did). Neither is better. They both have their advantage. EDIT: BMW can tow a trailer. And that is really an advantage for 2-5% of population. So BMW wins by small margin (Model X will have that ability but not Model S officially). 8. Safety - 5.series is top notch. I would remind you that super-cars are not safe. Paul Walker was an example. But our BMW is diesel. Diesel does not do that. They are similar. Both vehicles pass the requirements. 9. Price - As we can see (and that is important) that Model S 70D is cheaper than comparable BMW. Yes we can buy cheaper 5 series with reasonable accessories (42k€ base +3k€ minimum for extras) but those vehicles are not comparable (no AWD, manual transmission, 0-100 10sec etc). It is more reasonable to buy 3.series with more extras. 10. Range - BMW diesel wins. But for more people than some may think 100 miles is enough. Remember that we compare reasonable things not "the best" specs. Having 1300km range is not reasonable for daily use. You can easily take about 300l extra fuel and run for 4000 miles with that. But that is not reasonable and never will be for a car. With trips longer than 1000km people with ICE vehicles usually choose other methods of transportation as that trip usually costs more than car. Airplane is faster and safer than any car. Train is faster and even more cheaper. So coming back to Earth it is important to understand that normal people who DO commute for 500 miles do not choose a car because it is expensive. Not only fuel but also tires and oils and filters and other minifactors like windshield washing and safety. Tesla only adds the opportunity to travel for 1000 miles for "much less". So much less that it is acceptable to travel 1000 miles. Even though economical diesel BMW needs 100€ for full tank airplane costs 50-70€. Plus 25€ on tires etc. So. nr10. Range. Both vehicles pass. There is no better than "pass" after 300km one way direction. To sum up. For people who can afford to buy comparable BMW can EASILY afford Tesla Model S 70D. And there are hundreds of thousands in Europe alone. For those who can afford base level 5. series can STILL afford 70D. Do not forget that when we buy a vehicle we pay for the vehicle and for the fuel at the same time. It means that if Tesla needs 8x less money on fuel the vehicle itself can cost a little bit more (monthly payment). And those who buy 70D/535xd do not change vehicle as soon as possible. Especially if vehicle has 8 years of warranty on most expensive parts. That means Tesla will be much much cheaper than comparable BMW. It will be as cheap as cheapest 5.series that lags behind in many ways, including reliability and luxuriousness. This is why Model S is a "killer". But only in this mid-priced zone. It lags behind 7.series and S.class. It is way too expensive compared to all cheaper vehicles like Renault or Nissan or Toyota. It is too mighty for ladies in 70's buying potatoes and sugar. And is too weak for Nürburgring. But it is perfect for those who buy normal 5.series (excluding M5). I would even say that Model S fits European market more than to US. I think that Model X will be more welcome in US than it will be in Europe. Model 3 will be 3.series "killer" as it will cost as much but will be cheaper to maintain. High-end Model3 may lag behind top notch M3 but I'm more than convinced that it will outperform average 3.series in many ways. Including standard features on lowest Model 3. Weakest side Tesla has is a small choice. But it does its best and after X and III it will be more than enough to convince everybody. Let's hope Nissan and GM fill the low-end with low-cost and Merc and BMW offer something in S.class/7.series without range extenders within 130k€. Today we have only few vehicles, like i3 and eGolf/eUp and Leaf that can do their job. Those who have the money to buy a new mid/high-end Golf can afford eGolf. And that is important.

What is your salary? Are you happy with it?

I am a full time House Manager of one of the very rich family of Delhi. I am working with them from 2016. What I’ve known is that they earn between 140–170 crores every year after taxes and earning in the same bracket since last 4 years atleast. It can be even more of that but not less. They have Businesses in Exports, Manufacturing and Pharmaceuticals started in early 1980s by the Father who is 75 now. They have made it as one of the biggest export companies in Delhi and India. The family consists of 9 people- The father (founder), mother, their 2 sons, their wives and 3 children of 18, 10 and 17 years. They all live together and the family is well known across the who's who of the super wealthy Business circles. His elder son is 48 and is the CEO of the Enterprise. He manages majourity of the operations while the younger one who is 46 is one of the Director in the Company, and CEO of the Pharmaceutical subsidiary. The father is 75 but active and fit, working as the chairman of the Board. He chairs meetings, attends ceremonies and do tours sometimes. He has a great personality and is quite likeable and a very respected person, and equally humble too. Both sons are also shrewd and excel in the Business. They used to live in a basement - ground duplex appartment in 2016 when I was hired where lived their till May 2019. That home was around 7000 sq feets in GK, South Delhi. Presently they reside in a modernly designed bungalow/private residence constructed in Golf Links, the stone throw locality from India Gate and one of the poshest. I’ve worked for other wealthy people but hardly seen a residence with this much opulence. It is the most beautiful one from every view. It consists of Ground+2 Floors +Terrace and a two level basement, having close to 22,000 sq feet of carpet space excluding basement. They have done lot of work in making that home. It took close to one year to finalise it’s designs by the top interior designers and architects available across the globe and another 2.5 years to construct. It literally boasts of all the amenities- A 12 seater private IMAX theatre, grand swimming pool, multiple high-end spa, bar, a large gym which has all the equipments as well as hanging gardens and art gallery. The top floor is especially for recreational purposes having all the luxuries one needs to chill and relax. Around 85% of all the materials inside the home from furnitures, mattresses to wall clocks are imported and have the best of qualities and brands. It's more than a dream home. I think anyone based in Golf Links or other surrounding areas of central and south Delhi must have already seen that masterpiece. With the Central Delhi’s super posh land prices and the stature of the home, the Residence is worth over INR 250 Crores ($35M) today. They own a penthouse in New York, various high end appartments in South Mumbai, a beach facing villa in Goa and multiple estates and Farm Houses in Delhi's Vasant Vihar, Chhatarpur and in Lonavala. All being super extravagant in themselves with daily mentainance. They have a full time house staff of 16 including me- 1 House Manager, 6 servants, 2 elite cooks, 2 drivers and 5 security officers. Massagers (for spa) and yoga/gym trainers come on requirements and are one call away. More drivers and servants during a party that they usually have in the home, come on requirements but they are not full time and hence don’t live here. Gardeners and cleaners come everyday and have an assigned slot. Cleaners come from the specialist agencies and are experts in doing all kind of complex jobs-including cleaning swimming pool, setting up the sauna etc. All of them including the children are fond of Cars and prefer to drive themselves. Usually the elder son goes to the headquarters which is 12 KM from the home driving himself while the driver drives him back in the evening. They upgrade cars with every generation and presently own 15–16 cars. Some of them being: 1.2018 Range Rover Autobiography 2.2017 Mercedes Maybach S650 3.BMW M5 and BMW 7 Series 4. Porsche Cayenne 2020 5.Jaguar XF 6. Mercedes GLS 7 seater 7. Porsche 911 Convertible 8. BMW i8 9. Bentley Bentayga and 9. Rolls Royce Ghost (costs more than 7 Crores) They get driven around in the Rolls Royce and Maybach, and prefer to drive all the other cars themselves alternatively. They also own other high performance sports cars and some supercars including a Ferrari, but they are mostly parked in their farmhouses and are driven on weekends. Their 17 year old son have driven nearly every super luxury car and rides some high end bikes that I don’t know the name but all cost above 20 lacs. Their 18 year old daughter got the Porsche Cayenne worth 2.25 crores on her 18th Birthday this year. They all go to shopping to Ambience Gurgaon, The Chanakya, DLF Emporio and other luxury outlets in Chanakyapuri mostly along with going to Dubai and Milan every month. They go to Mumbai oftenly as they own various appartments and luxury cars there too, including an Audi A8L and Bentley Flying Spur. They children and wives usually spend 8–20 lacs or more than that in a go while shopping; buying the luxury brands’ clothes, accessories and jewels. They don't care about the price tags but only look up for quality. They don’t have any fixed month decided for holidays. They go to vacation every month or even every weeks during holidays. They have the best travel managers to plan everything and lease private jets and rent a whole luxury Villa in that place. The father and mother celebrated their 50th marriage anniversary last year and it was like a heaven in itself. They had a 2 day grand celebration at the majestic Oberoi Udaivillas in Udaipur with 125 high profile guests and completely recreated their marriage with all the delicacies and programs. They had booked the whole resort for 2 days for privacy. Udit Narayan sang there and had some other popular people also. Other prominent Businessmen with their families and the Minister of Industry and Enterprises of Rajasthan was also present. Later they partied full night at their grand farmhouse in Lonavala and gave a reception at a 5 star hotel in Dubai. After which the family went for a month to Europe vacationing in a super luxury private yacht, along with some other 10–12 close family members who are also wealthy. Their son and daughter also celebrate their birthday abroad with friends having all the lavishness one can imagine. Though they are quite secretive, that do enough of charity also whole year. They have adopted more than 150 kids and look after them for their every needs and run a Foundation, which mainly aims to educate and create awareness to women about Menstrual hygiene in rural areas. They've arranged for various pad donation drives and awareness programs in many areas of the country yet. I’ve also listened to servants and other helpers and the family is quite compassionate towards us and help us every time.Though I am not wealthy but with the nature of my work and profession, I am able to look after their extravagant lifestyle closely and hence wrote something about that in this answer, to give u some sneak peak about it.

Which supercars will you want to own someday?

This Q's really close to my heart, so was in a dilemma to answer it or otherwise. But yea, what the heck?!! Note: I won't post pics of my favourite cars here, so go Google them if you are really keen. Hyper car,: Pagani Huayra, (Ferrari) LaFerrari FXX K SuperCar,: McLaren F1, Ferrari F488 Pista Sports, ,Car,: Porsche 911GT3 Track, ,Car,: Nissan GTR SUV,: Range Rover 5.0LV8 Autobiography (LWB),GMC Chevrolet Suburban LTZ Everyday, ,Ride,: BMW M5 Now, the rationale for putting these 9 names on the list might not go down with all you readers, but mine are very personal. Intimate they should be and why not? Firstly, I am ,Pagani, fan boy and it's a technical marvel. There aren't many thoroughbreds out there that can make you cry tears of joy and piss in your pants at the same time. Pagani is one of them, ever since the days of The ,Zonda,. The ,LaFerrari, though, well is in a league of its own. “Utter bonkers around the corners” (Fiorano, Monza) say some of the best drivers in the business. I haven't even seen both these machines in person and that's also why they make it to my list. Ever since I "drove” the ,Mclaren F1, in NFS2, I always wanted to drive one in reality. I did get a chance to sit in one, in Dubai, but couldn't drive- Talk about Heartbreaks!! BTW, this car ,invented the term Supercar and some say even HyperCar. It's my all time favourite aauromobile,. It a chance to rev a ,F488,, again in Dubai but once again, couldn't drive it. But, I was lucky to drive a F458 and F430 in Abu Dhabi. Such good feedback and road presence, it shouts immense respect for the Ferrari engineers. Hats Off. The Porsche 911 GT3, is another purist which puts a broad smile on my face. Drove one in Mumbai and again in Singapore, this is an extremely valuable machine and a good platform to appreciate the many facets of what goes into making of a sportscar. Nissan GTR, is from the world of Manga and Urban Folklore around Street and drag races. No comments here. It's a true legend. The ,RR, Supercharged 5L V8 drinks more petrol then all the water you've ever sipped your entire lifetime. It's built like a tank, with go anywhere variability, enough power and torque to move mountains, but most behind the wheel wear a velvet gloves! Drove one in Dubai and another in Muscat, Oman. It's the finest luxury-yet-thoroughbred SUV money can buy. Ever since I've watched a ,US Presidential Motorcade,, I've been in the awe of the ,Chevy Suburban,. You can't have a Motorcade without the Suburban. Ugly/Wide/Lengthy/Gas Guzzler call it what you want, its amongst the most iconic vehicles ever made. It's also the oldest ever vehicle to be in ,continuous production. Finally, the ,BMW M5 (F10, ,2016 model). It's a rear wheel drive Falcon in a Pigeon's clothing. It's simply the best everyday car ever made. Quick thrill between traffic lights, open highway cruise, 4th gear starts, it does it all! Plus, it's got enough space for your Wife/Girlfriend's shopping loot AND your kids school accessories. 563bhp monster on tap. So, these are my views and I'll stick it them unless there are factual errors (feel free to correct me). I am break, biased and unapologetic and take my views with a punch of salt. Love and Peace ♥️

What do the "popular" kids look like from your country?

Hey guys, I’m from Pakistan and I saw an answer to this question from one of my fellow countrymen. However, I have to say that that guy must have been living under a rock or gone to a school which is conservative or has parents who are conservative. I live in Islamabad (which is our capital) and here is what popular kids here look like. Girls Clothing The girls who are either rich or have very liberal parents nowadays wear shorts, skirts, and crop tops. In my school {where most kids are very rich}, most girls wear the same uniform as boys, i.e. khakis and a polo shirt. Outside of school, the girls normally wear shorts and skirts. one of my friends wears very short ones and shes considered the most popular girl in school. A lot of girls also experiment with tank tops and sport bras too. Hair To be popular hair, streaked hair is a must.Green, purple or anything it has to be streaked. Accessories, shoes , and miscellaneous stuff Starting with shoes, Vans sneakers and Adidas Superstars, ,are a must. Nike Air Force Ones are a plus one. In accessories, you need a handbag like a Coach or Louis Vuitton (yes i know we are stupidly rich because these bags are considered normal). Air pods are a must (they aren't very common in Pakistan so that's why.) You need to have the newest iPhone (everyone in my class has some form of an iPhone 11). Also having a boyfriend carries a lot of marks. Being thin with nice sized boobs is good for girls (your butt should be thin if your a girl or a boy). Being slightly muscular is plus point for guys. The car you drive/ are chauffeured around in This may not seem important but having a cool car is very important for both boys and girls. The legal age for driving in Pakistan is 18 but we all drive and we are mostly 16 (some 15 year olds too.) I’m 16 and I drive a BMW M5 2018 and a BMW M760i 2019 (btw Im a guy.) Most girls dont drive to and from school and they are usually chauffeured to school in a Land Cruiser V8 or some other SUV. Most of the girls in my class drive (outside of school) Porsche Cayennes or Panameras. Your House Yeah, this is a major one too. If you have a house in F8, good/ If you have a house in F7, amazing. If you have a house in F6, where is the line to start worshiping you. If you have a vacation home somewhere, your instantly popular. Well. thats my two cents on Pakistani girls and what they look like if your popular. Comment below, because I really want to know what people think about Pakistani girls and what were your misconceptions Till next time
