Review Q&A ford platinum f150

Are Ford's Platinum and Titanium packages worth the money?

I’m probably the wrong guy to ask… I’ve owned both and currently have a limited F150. Ford offers them on a wide range of their cars. I’m a sports car guy. The F150 is my ‘makeup car’ for everything else. It’s my only 4 seater (actually 5). The addition of the leather interior, exterior trim and all the other goodies make it perfect for hauling freight or going to the annual Charity formal. The valet parking attendant at a local restaurant likes it better than any of the Luxobarges filling his lot. I guess it’s a matter of taste but I like them. I think they are worth the up charge and turn utility into luxury.

Is the F-150 the flagship model of Ford?

The term: “Flagship” implies that this would be their biggest, best and most luxurious model. The F150 clearly doesn’t qualify for that moniker. If anything, you would have to go to the Lincoln Division, to find Ford products, which could be considered a flagship… If you were sticking with the Ford Division, I would select the Ford Expedition, Platinum Edition. This is a full-size, fully-loaded, $73,000+ SUV which lacks for nothing. It has every luxury imaginable, can haul lots of people, tow trailers, carry lots of luggage and cargo and can go pretty much anywhere an SUV can go. If it were a naval vessel, it would be a battleship…

Why do so many Americans blow $50,000 plus on a big truck when these people don't live on a farm or ranch and aren't hauling around big things in the trunk every day? Some trucks like the Ford F150 cost half as much and can still carry a lot, right?

I have a brand new 2018 F-150 Platinum SuperCrew with all of the bells and whistles. I live in a Houston suburb. I have around $60,000 in my truck. Why? It is an amazingly SENSIBLE luxury vehicle. (at least for my lifestyle) I can drive through most Houston flood water with little problem. I can haul many bagfuls of mulch, fertilizer, etc. that I use to take care of my two acres of land. I can move many items that other vehicles simply can’t. I may need a trailer to do that, but guess what, I can pull a trailer. I can seat 5 in total comfort. I have many luxury options that I take advantage of. Remote start in the Texas heat is great. Adaptive cruise is so refreshing. Why buy a sports car that is hard to get in and out of? Why buy a sports car that you can’t legally drive as fast as it can go when you can have a comfortable vehicle with all of the bells and whistles? I can easily go as fast as the law allows and the twin turbo gets me up to speed as fast as most any car; if not faster.

How or where can I upgrade my 2015 Ford F150 Platinum Sync 2 system to latest Sync 3 so I can use CarPlay?

Well you will have to fork over some cash and a few hours of labor. Check this site for parts and price ,Ford SYNC Touchscreen Upgrade Kits,. I am in the same boat as you I have a 2012 F-150 Platinum. There is a guy on you tube that walks thru the install its pretty good.

How has the Ford F-150 been the best selling truck in America for so long?

If take a look at any country, you will find a car that made a huge success in that country in one way or another. In the USA that car is the ford F150 pick-up truck. The reasons why this truck is so popular started to grow bigger as the truck became older. The main reason why Ford made the f150 in the first place was to help farmers and workers find a dependable car that they could use for a long time without having to worry about breakdowns. For that exact reason Ford made the f150 available in almost any configuration you would want it. No matter what your dream truck is, you will find it no matter what. While there are other pick up trucks available, the f150 is the best selling simply because Ford was able to outdo the competition in terms of build quality and power train. As the years go by and with every new model, Ford tries to make the f150 as luxurious as premium SUVs. The lastst modle shows that in great details with all the convince options the f150 platinum packs in. The thing with the F150 is that it just became cooler as the time went by. The same exact story with Mercedes G class. The car started slowly to be taken out of its natural place and into the streets of Beverly hills

Why are British cars so bad compared to American cars?

Think the best way to answer his question is to look at what makes a car “good”. Breaking this down into a few simple categories: Power Weight Efficiency Acceleration Handling Comfort Durability/reliability Looks Now let’s take a look at America’s Best Selling Car 42years running: The Ford F-Series This is the 5.0L V8 F-150 Platinum: Power:, 395 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque Weight:, 5284 lb (2397 kg) Efficiency:, 19 mpg (on the “highway”) Acceleration:, 5.9 seconds 0–60 mph Handling:, 180 Feet to stop from 70 mph. As for everything else; it’s big, tall and heavy, and it’s got soft off-road suspension… I think that probably speaks for itself. Comfort: ,I’d say this is likely where the F-Series comes into it’s own, there’s a lot of room in that cab which means more cup holders, and some big plush suspension to soak up the potholes on the way to the local shooting range. Durability/reliability: ,Being a big off-road machine, and a reputable best-seller at that, I’d be surprised if it wasn’t both reliable and durable. A quick Google search brings up a lot of happy consumer reviews, so I’d give the F-150 a big thumbs up here. Looks: ,This one is obviously pretty subjective, and personally I think the F-150 is pretty good looking, but I’m confident it wouldn’t make a mark in any lists of 2019’s “Best looking cars” Cost: ,Couldn’t find any exact figures for the V8 Platinum, but the base model Raptor comes in at around $50,000, so we’ll use that. Now let’s take a look at one of the Best Selling British cars, the Jaguar XE: (Yes I know, these are less popular than Range Rovers, but honestly I think the XE is far more “British”, and feels like a better answer to the question than the Range.) For the 3.0L Supercharged V6 (no this isn’t the top trim level, but the 592hp V8 Project 8 version isn’t a run of the mill production car) Power: ,375 hp and 332 lb-ft Weight:, Maxes out at 1665, ,kg (3671 lb) Efficiency: ,Claimed “Urban” fuel efficiency of just over 20 mpg Acceleration: ,4.8 s 0–62 mph Handling:, 112 feet stopping from 60mph. It’s a sporty British saloon, and it handles like one. That 5* NCAP safety rating backs that up pretty nicely. Comfort: ,Based on a few online reviews, people seem pretty happy in these cars (as long as they’re sat in the front seats). Durability/reliability: ,Jaguars in general get very mixed reviews in this category, and the XE is no exception. Google search reveals customers that have put 100,000+ miles on the clock and never had a problem, but also customers with 10,000 on the clock that have spent more time in the garage than on the road. Looks:, Pretty comfortable saying that this is a ,good, looking car. As 2019 models go, this wouldn’t look out of place in a few top 20’s, if not top 10’s! Cost: ,Varying prices listed online, but they seem to average out at around $60,000 Comparison: All-out power, the F-150 takes the top spot, but as soon as you look at the performance figures the XE looks a lot better. Weight-wise, the XE is 900kg lighter even at its max kerb weight. For efficiency, you’ll get better mpg in the XE in the suburbs than you would in the F150 on the highway Acceleration, the XE gets to 62 1.1 seconds faster than the F150 gets to 60 Handling… obviously this one was always going to the XE Comfort is a big win for the F150, although I don’t think the XE is uncomfortable by any means. Durability and reliability is again a strong win for the F150, although the XE does much better in a safety test. Looks-wise, the XE wins hands down. For the same ball park 40–60k price range, you get a lot of car in an XE, and a lot of sheet metal in an F150, but I have to give this one to the Ford. Conclusion: Based on this, I think we’re reinforcing the stereotypes of both markets: American cars are heavy, powerful “gas-guzzlers”, and only go in straight lines. British cars are made to rip around winding British country roads, while being practical and looking good doing it. Which is best is completely up to the consumer. 20 Best-Selling Cars And Trucks Of 2018 Jaguar European sales figures

What's good about Ford cars?

Personal experience: Purchased new -> 1998 F150, 2003 F250, 2007 Lincoln Mark LT (this turned into the F150 Platinum Edition in later years), 2010 Raptor 6.2L super cab, 2014 Raptor crew cab, 2018 Raptor crew cab. So my Ford experience is fairly deep but trucks only. None ever left me stranded from mechanical breakdown. A heater hose on my 1998 blew. The 2003 F250 ate brake rotors on an all too regular basis, however I was often very fully loaded, towing a 50kw generator around. The only maintenance on the rest of them was oil changes with the exception of a rear window defroster that failed on the 2014 Raptor which was repaired under warranty by replacing the entire rear window assembly and cost me $0. I call that reliable from my perspective.

What is the best automatic car wash for my car? Regular or touchless? Are the extras like undercarriage washes, wheel cleaning or spray-on wax worth it?

So I am a manager at an automatic wash, so my opinion will be slightly biased. I have a pretty deep understanding of the chemistry at both the automatic and touchless washes. Lots of people feel that the touchless washes are the way to go since the automatic ones will eventually leave swirls in your paint (which is only partly true but I’ll get to that in a moment). The only problem with the touchless washes is the chemistry. The way they clean cars is completely different. We combine Chemistry and what we call Mechanical Action (the physical brushes). Touchless washes only use Chemistry. Since they don’t have the benefit of Mechanical Action, they have to use ,significantly, harsher chemicals than we do. Over time, this will deteriorate your clear coat, stain the rims, and seemingly bleach out the hard plastic trim pieces on your car. The choice between the two also has something to do with the condition of your car when you bring it in. Is it covered in mud? Maybe go with a touchless over an automatic so it doesn't rub the grit into your paint (however, you’d be safe with a Mister automatic… One of the first chemicals to go on your car is a lubricant, and our first set of brushes are made out of what we call NeoGlide, which is basically just slippery foam. It helps push the dirt off without holding it in the cloth and rubbing it into your paint). Your traditional automatic won’t have these things, so you are going to run into issues if you continually bring your car in covered in mud. As far as the add-ons? I swear by them. And I’ll address them one by one (keep in mind that this only applies to Misters). The undercarriage wash is more of a rinse than anything else. We couldn't use a full blown pressure washer down there or we’d damage electronics, but it is useful for rinsing off road grime, salt, or mud out from under your car. Having cleaned the tunnel 100’s of times, I can tell you that that is the dirtiest section of the tunnel, just because it removes so much filth from the underside of cars that people don't even know is there. Wheel cleaning comes in all of our packages down to the basic, so I’ll address what we call Wheel Polish (only available in our Platinum, which is the top package). Basically, this is a sacrificial silicone-based polymer layer that is just meant to give your rims a slightly wet look, and it also keeps a layer between your rim and brake dust (which makes it significantly easier to clean. And since every car gets the same attention, it means that you should have immaculately clean wheels every time you come through without needing to touch up certain areas). And finally, my favorite, our wax, the area in which my company has set the standard for the industry. Recognize this? We started this. And yes, this makes a massive difference. One, it's going to shine longer, and two, it's going to give it another sacrificial layer to protect your paint and make it easier to clean next time. On sunny days, you can look down the line of freshly washed cars and see who got wax and who didn't. Its that big of a difference. Also, it makes things like bugs and road tar so much easier to clean off, since those things would be stuck to our wax and not your clear coat. I said I would get to the problem of swirls in your paint. Our washes mitigate this issue as much as we possibly can, but its part of the wear of the vehicle. Handwashing is worse for it than taking it to a Mister, since at home you probably don't have a cleaning lubricant and NeoGlide brushes to push off the grit before you clean. The issue is the vehicles that only get the wax-less washes every time. Even if you take 3 ply toilet paper and wipe your car in the same spot 1,000’s of times, you’ll start to see marks. The only way to effectively mitigate this completely is to either keep a coat of hand wax on it or to get our wax. Either way, you have to have something between your clear coat and the grit that it encounters every day. I’ll give an anecdote to illustrate: We have a regular customer named Mr. Jackson. He’s been coming 3 times a week for six years (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays). He is retired and loves to detail his truck every single time he comes in (the inside, I mean. He lets us take care of the outside). He has a black Ford F150 and gets the wash with the wax every single time he comes in. His paint is in immaculate condition. You’d be hard pressed to find any issues with it anywhere, even though he takes it to one of those “horrible automatic washes that scratch your paint” 3 days out of the week. That’s roughly in the neighborhood of 972 washes without ANY issues. I wish I had pictures of his truck to post, but I won't see him till Saturday. Anyways, I hope my answer has given you an insight into processes and chemicals behind a car wash. There’s a lot more to it than I think most people realize.

What kind of deals are the most beneficial while buying a new car?

Yes; In April 2019, I bought a 2018 Fully loaded Ford F150 Platinum for $38,000 out the door. It had been an Executive/Vip loaner and had 2500 miles. Never registered. With my trade of my 2012 F150 XLT I had only 12,500 to pay for.
