Why does a Tesla Model 3 have a frunk? I was told that most EVs with frunks evolved from ICE versions, and they had a lot of leftover space up front. While this could be the rule “in theory” ,(it sounds logical, doesn’t it?),, it is most likely the opposite. Many pure EVs are designed to have some empty space in the front, most conversions don’t have it because they are simply not optimized for this purpose. Best example: VW e-Golf is a conversion. Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia e-Niro share the platform with their hybrid siblings. None of them has any frunk. On the other hand, pure EVs like Teslas and Ford Mach-E have a frunk, but Nissan Leaf or Renault ZOE (both being pure EVs) don’t have it. Which means - your “rule” is definitely wrong.
