What is the difference between the Hondan Civic Si and the Em1?
The EM1 refers to the chassis code for the 99-00 Honda Civic SI. In the US market, the Honda Civic SI themselves have had many iterations. 99-00 -- EM1, B16A2 (160hp/110tq), 5-speed 01-05 -- EP3, K20A3 (160hp/130tq), 5-speed 06-11 -- FG2/FA5, K20Z3 (200hp/140tq), 6-speed 12+ -- FG4/FB6, K24Z7 (200hp/175tq), 6-speed
What is your opinion of the Honda Civic? What is your favorite year?
Few vehicles have been more iconic in the automotive enthusiasts world than the Honda Civic. It's a very versatile platform. Leave it stock and it's a great family sedan or first beater car for a young teenager. It's reliable, handles well even in moderately snowy/icy conditions, and cheap. Or you can choose the Civic Si and you have a great starting point for a damn quick little racecar. Even fewer vehicles in the automotive enthusiasts community have such a polarized overall opinion in the community. There's three opinions on the Civic. 1) It is respected for the heritage it has and the diversity of its capabilities but one must understand that no matter what, in the end it's just a civic. It's not the best racecar platform nor the worst. 2) ‘it's trash. Useless as a racecar. Best used for picking up kids from school or bringing home groceries. Even then only as a last resort due to being poor’. 3)’ VTEC JUST KICKED IN YO! MY STOCK EK PULLS SO HARD BRO! I'LL RACE ANYONE IN ANY CAR AND THEY'LL GET SMOKED WHEN I HIT 9,000RPM IN MAX VTEC! NO LIFT SHIT EVERYWHERE!’. Personally, my opinion is the first of the three. I admit I am a Honda fan boy. But I'm not the Honda douchebag that would have the third opinion. Everyone, and I mean everyone, should hate people with the third opinion. And for the final part of this answer, my favorite year of Civic is a tie between the ’99 (Em1) Si in Electron Blue and the 95 (EG) coupe. But truly, my favorite isn't a civic at all really. My true love is Acura Integra’s. Specifically the 95 LS Special Edition Sedan in Frost White and the 2001 Type R
What is the difference between a Honda Civic EM Coupe and an EK Coupe?
There are a few differences between an EM1 civic and a EK civic. Let's get this out of the way though: An EM1 is still an EK chassis. The EM1 was produced in the years 1999 and 2000. It is the performance trim level, and was the highest trim level available in the US for all generations of the ,Civic ,until 2015 when Honda finally gave the US market a Type R, as well as being the only generation of Civic that came with a B Series engine from the factory. The EM1 was equipped with a B16A2 while the standard EK came with some variation of the D16.
What are the features of the em1 Honda Civic?
You are talking about the sixth generation Civic, mid nineties to 2000 production date ? I can only speak for North American models. Not sure about “features” such as trim levels but they came with upgraded interior and with or without airconditioning. With or without electric windows. Manual or automatic transmission. Mechanically they are bullet proof . As long as you remember to change the timing belt regularly, every 90k or so. Biggest enemy is corrosion. If you do not rustproof it it will disintegrate quickly. Do not forget that I am in Ontario, Canada and there is more salt on the roads here than on a large order of fries at Mc Donalds. A Civic of that vintage will more than likely have a ton of miles. If you consider buying one have a professional mechanic check it out for you. They can run well over 200k if maintained properly .
