Question: ,“Were the original Rolls-Royce motor cars sold with a lifetime factory warranty? Is it still being honored?” I again feel compelled to reply to a Quora post that perpetuates a stupid automotive myth. This post, by Quora writer Paul Stabin, a well meaning and decent if apparently gullible man, tells the apocryphal story of a Rolls Royce that broke down, this time while being driven “over an unpaved road in a part of the African continent” after which Rolls Royce purportedly flew two mechanics and the part from England to Africa, repaired the car, and then when a bill was not received, responded, according to Stabin, ‘What repair? Our cars do not break.’ Stabin goes on to assert: “Rolls Royce preferred to eat the tens of thousands of dollars it cost to fly out the part and mechanic rather than acknowledge that anything broke, even under abuse, on their car.” NO. Just NO. That did not happen. Rolls Royce had no such policy and never did anything of the sort. The story originated sometime in the 1950s. I originally heard the story in 1958. And that iteration described a new Bentley (which was a Rolls Royce with a somewhat less pretentious radiator grill) one of two twin Bentleys purchased by the company owner and the chief engineer of the plant where my father was employed as an engineer. In that version of this perpetual myth, the owner broke either a spring or an axle (the story had variants) of his new car while driving too fast on a badly paved mountain road in Colorado. Again (this part of the myth never seems to vary) the Rolls Royce factory sent the part and two factory mechanics by air from the Crewe factory to a cow town in Colorado where they repaired the car (while taking union required tea breaks) and then, having fixed the car, disappeared without presenting a bill. After some weeks the owner inquired about the charges. Of course he was told that as Rolls-Bentley cars do not break down they do not need repairs and, QED, there was no bill. In subsequent years I have had that same stupid story repeated to me at least a dozen times on at least three continents. The only variable is the country in which the Rolls purportedly breaks down. If a small percentage of those stories were actually true, roadways from Johannesburg to Helsinki and from Tierra del Fuego to Anchorage would be littered with broken down Rolls Royces surrounded by tea sipping mechanics in flat caps! Knowing how to work on and having serviced Rolls cars I can assure you that is not true. (I do not drink tea, do not own a flat cap, open hoods not bonnets, own wrenches not spanners, and have never even been in Crewe.) Though I would advise the unitiated not to try to adjust the leather faced clutch on an original Silver Ghost. They grab and chatter horribly if they are allowed to dry out.

Flat Earth is anything but anti-science! Do more research! I trust this will be a good starting point. This is a re-edit of a video done by Rodrigo Ferrari-Nunes, Ph.D.. It involves a case study into understanding the flat Earth movement from an anthropological perspective. My Dad sent me the quote a few days ago. After reading it, I sent him a reply by text “OK so?” I've looked for articles to confirm the legitimacy of this statement but only found a few Afrocentric blogs and no prominent news outlets seem to have covered it yet. So I'm up in the air about the accuracy of this statement. It is of no consequence to me. Whether Putin said it or not, it's not a lie. It's the cold painful truth actually. Most African countries have been made nothing but graveyards for their struggling citizens to die in. I was born in Nigeria and lived there for a while. I've also lived in South Africa. African countries are very different but all have the same underlying issues of corruption and poverty. Our politicians are well versed in the art of investing their ill-gotten gains abroad. See this man? His name is James Ibori. He was the former governor of a state in the same region I’m from, the Niger Delta. He was the governor of Delta State, Nigeria from 1999–2007. In 2012, he was sentenced to 13 years in a London court. His crime? He had embezzled and laundered a total of $50 million of public funds. He was charged in a Nigerian court but all the charges were dropped. In 2010, he was arrested in Dubai by Interpol then subsequently charged and sentenced in London. Among his seized possessions were: A house in ,Homestead,, north London, for £2.2m A property in ,Shaftesbury,, ,Dorset,, for £311,000 A £3.2m mansion in Sandton, near ,Johannesburg,, ,South Africa A fleet of armoured ,Range Rovers, valued at £600,000 A £120,000 ,Bentley Continental GT A ,Mercedes-Benz, ,Maybach 62, bought for €407,000 cash, that was shipped direct to his mansion in South Africa This is the classroom of a school in Warri, the capital city of Delta State where Ibori was governor. Do you think it would have taken up to $50 million for this classroom to be habitable? Or to clean up this place? He is an anomaly because unlike our countless politicians, he actually got convicted even if he only served 4 years. Yet the people who died, who needed that money he stole for healthcare and a better life continue to rot in the graves their leaders happily dug for them. Robert Mugabe. He rose from the symbol of hope for Zimbabweans to the cause of their demise. He would have happily continued to do so if he wasn’t literally pushed from power. His wife Grace AKA Gucci Grace, is especially notorious for spending and bad behavior with a net worth of about 30 million dollars excluding what her husband has. Money that is spread around in Dubai, China, Singapore, Paris and Malaysia. Meanwhile Zimbabwe’s economy was left in a pit of despair when the value of their currency became so useless that $1 is equal to 361.900 Zimbabwean dollars. It hasn’t gotten better at all. They shout and cry against foreign intervention but will happily take the money that belongs to their citizens to invest in the West. Mugabe notoriously hated the West getting involved in anything he had going on but still bought cars made by western countries. His sons lived lavishly in South Africa. But his people were left spending dollars because their currency was that useless. The Nigerian president, Mohammad Buhari, once left to London to treat an ear infection. Our leaders don’t even trust the healthcare in their own country and make no effort in fixing. How isn’t Africa a graveyard? But I can’t completely blame them because all the countries they spent money in didn’t complain when the money was being spent nor did they ask any questions. Whether Putin said it or not, it’s true. In fact I’m amused by those showing outrage because is this really news to you? Are you really that shocked? So you were just waiting for the president of a faraway country with no immediate interests in your continent to tell you? It’s no wonder they do this so easily then, if we’re that deep in denial.
