That is quite a nice budget for a shopping trip! However, it depends on what exactly your wife wants to buy: clothes, accessories, food, art, traditional Bavarian things? When I go shopping in a foreign country, I always try to buy "local" thnings, i.e., things that have been made in the city or area, and / or that I cannot get elsewhere. Or, if I want fancy things, I go for big brands that have their homebase in the city or area. Big fancy brands from Munich: ,Luxury Leather Goods, (MCM, Modern Creation Munich) ,Handschuhe - Accessoires - 175 Jahre Tradition, (Röckl, gloves and leather accessories) ,BMW Museum : Guided Tours, (the car brand BMW has a museum and a souvenir shop as well) ,Talbot Runhof® | home, (exclusive couture women's wear) ,Etienne Aigner AG - Official Online Shop, (Aigner, women's wear, bags, and accessories) ,Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg, (porcelain) Also, the Munich museums have nice gifts and books as well - I am recommending this, because travelling websites typically recommend museum shops for unique souvenirs: ,Deutsches Museum, and ,Die Pinakotheken im Kunstareal München, (Pinakotheken in the area named "Kunstareal" = Alte Pinakothek, Neue Pinakothek, Pinakothek der Moderne, Museum Brandhorst all located next to each other) Those two department stores are Munich's most original and exclusive ones: ,Store of the Senses, (Kaufhaus Ludwid Beck) and ,Home, (Oberpollinger). For deli food: ,Delicatessen, (Dallmayr) and ,Delicatessen, (Feinkost Käfer - go to the boutique at the Prinzregentenstraße; you can also have lunch or dinner there in the restaurant) For art, hand-crafted goods etc., you should take a look at this website: ,Viertelfavoriten, - it lists all the spots where you can find small boutiques and stores; buying your souvenirs and gifts there will also support the owners and help stop the gentrification of the hip districts.

He refused to take such permission and only took the Rs. 7.5 Lakh prize money and Rs. 2.5 Lakh gift from the Army Officers Club. Abhinav Bindra had some issues with NRAI and refused to have to approach them or Kowtow to them. He was wealthy enough to avoid these gifts or freebies. Until 2012 - everything was done through the Association but from 2012 Olympians have their own agents and have bypassed the associations. Surprisingly Sushil Kumar refused money for Interviews or appearances and happily went to charitable shows for free, even once doing free stunts - ,as long as he was treated with respect He also hasnt claimed much of Taxpayer money. Until his alleged murder Chargesheet, he was one of the Greats
A sports car? Absolutely not! I promised my children that when they were sure that they needed cars that I would have to provide, I would buy them the equivalents of 1968 Chryslers. Taking that hint, they grew up, found jobs or full-time studies, and very rarely borrowed my respectable VW if they desperately needed to drive somewhere. When any one of them graduated from college, the graduation gift was an older but reliable Toyota or Honda sedan. Later, when they themselves could afford it, they traded for newer but still respectable, sturdy, safe and appropriate vehicles. Of course, once they were all out of the danger zone, I bought myself a BMW convertible.
Get to know her. Then give her something that you know she'll like. My word, when will people stop asking complete strangers about gifts for their loved ones. We don't know your girlfriend. How would we know? Is it a gift for an anniversary? Or birthday? Or one just because you want to give her something? Maybe give her roses. Or give her a bicycle. Maybe wait, give her a water jug. Or a 5 series BMW. Maybe a 24ct Gold Ring with a 5ct diamond. Maybe a house. Or a chihuahua. Or… Spend time with her. Listen to her, make mental notes of what she'd like and get her those things.
Question: “,My son is about to turn 16, should I get him a BMW i8 or a Dodge Demon?” Ordinarily I would not answer any question by anyone who claimed that his Quora name was the puerile and sexually suggestive Big Dong. (Kind of sophomoric, don’t you think? Besides violating Quora policy.) Neither would I in normal circumstances respond to an inquiry about buying an $85,000 car from someone like yourself who in a prior question described a $100 gold (?) bracelet as an expensive gift. Both cars appear to be ,way, beyond your means. And there is the problem that your choice of language in prior posts, your references to “girlfriends” and “boyfriends” and dating problems, implies that you are a teenager or at best a young adult and, therefore, would not be old enough to have a 16 year old child. Nevertheless, for the benefit of the adults in the room, I will answer your question re very high performance cars and the problems involved in buying, licensing, and insuring them. Dodge Challenger SRT Demons are in limited supply. The demand for them, among those who actually have $85K in discretionary cash, far exceeds that supply. And, because of their 840 horsepower engine and drag radial tires, these cars, despite driver assists, are very difficult for those without track day experience to drive. Dodge realizes there are liability issues in even selling such cars. As such Dodge ,requires, you to sign a 3-page legal document which restricts your use of the car and assigns liability for its use ,before they will even consider selling you the car. ,If Dodge had any idea you, or rather someone with the money who actually had a 16 year old son, were giving it to a child ,they would NOT, ,sell you the car for any amount of money. If you tried to buy and register the car in a 16-year old’s name, which is what you imply in your question, you could not do it. A non-emancipated child cannot sign a legal document. And since signing the 3-page restrictive conditions documents is a pre-condition for buying the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, the deal would stop right there. But let’s say you did somehow manage to come up with the $85K you do not have, managed to convince Dodge to sell the car to you, and then gave it to your son to drive. ,You could not insure it., ,NO insurance company will insure a child as a driver or an owner of an 840 horsepower car. Period. Full Stop. ,And as insurance is a precondition for registering a car in all jurisdictions in the United States that car could not be licensed or driven. Additionally, the insurance in normal circumstances for an adult driving an $85K 840 horsepower car would be way beyond the means of someone such as yourself who described a $100 bracelet for your girlfriend as an expensive gift. Thus, your question is moot. But the restrictions and difficulties may interest those who could actually buy such a car.
Karen Tiede, touched on this briefly in the addition to her answer, but let me expand on why I think the Lexus is a bad idea. An expensive, "cool" car very often turns out to be a friend magnet and a party vehicle. Someone I know well, a very wealthy individual, gifted his son who was also 19 an expensive car for his birthday (a BMW 5-series if I recall right). Needless to say, it didn't hurt the boy in the popularity stakes. He was a really bright kid, he interned at the ad agency I worked at, and we could see him doing really well in his career. One night, he was out partying, and when returning home at about 1am with a close friend, hit the median on the highway. Speed apparently was a factor. The car rolled over several times, and burst into flames. Both boys were charred beyond recognition. This is not to say that something like this wouldn't happen with a Toyota or Honda, but the need to show off or speed seems to rise exponentially when you have a "cool" car. If you want to spend the extra money, buy him something that will help keep him safe, like good tyres.
I believe when he asked you for gift, you must’ve interpreted as “cash” transaction instead of check right ? I’ve seen such cases where buyer wants to show purchase as a gift to get away with state tax on purchased automobile and pay cash to seller so that no one can prove that he bought the car and it not actually a gift. For example, in California the recipient must complete a Statement of Use Tax Exemption form – the idea here being that because the car was a gift and not a purchase, the recipient can avoid paying use tax on it. I think he fooled you and he took “gift” word to literally and took off since you said yes. ROFL … Have you transferred the car title to that guy ? If not, then you can call 911 and file a report for stolen car. If yes, then start saving money for new car and make sure to not to do these stupid and idiotic things in future.
I’ve had five BMWs since 2003, including my favorite, a 2008 M3 (with a V8 engine — amazing car). Before that enjoyed two other BMW 5s that my ex owned. Just leased a 2018 x3 M40i. Excellent vehicle. I am by no means a car enthusiast, or know much about cars, but it’s just fun to drive. Highlights: Extremely responsive steering. 0 to 60 in 4.6 seconds. That’s great given the stop lights at some of the flow restricted expressway on-ramps. Taut suspension. 21-inch fording, important in a flood prone area. Very comfortable seats. Intuitive controls. Works well down here in Miami which is a mix of stressful urban congestion, and high speed, all-out freeway driving. It is easy to get into and out of small parking spaces. Comfortable for long spells of stop and go traffic. So Grade of A to A+ on the car itself. And kudos to the South Carolina plant. From special order in the showroom to delivery in three weeks. Now, the dealer network / BMW Finance is another thing entirely. I won’t go into the grisly details, but the whole sales and financing experience was appalling. Lease deals that did not really exist. Intransigence in the underlying interest rate, a.k.a. the money factor (I have a great credit rating). Grudging discounts off MSRP. Looking back on this, I feel totally ripped off, and I have had a career in financial services so I am not naive. Worse: $1200 in excess wear charges on a three-year old, 10,000-mile turn in: some scrapes under the front bumper, two door dings and — this was legitimate — a dent in the hood with paint breakage from a rock. BMW Finance has become far stricter over the years in assessing excess wear. Of course that nudged (coerced) me in to buying the excess wear insurance for the first time. I had similar problems with BMW #3 at another BMW dealer, where they had the ,sales department ,do an advanced check before the official turn in. They found $800 in damage which they would “knock off” the MSRP if I bought another car from them. They also accused me of “lowering” the car, whatever that means. A total scam. I turned it in at a third dealer, properly, to BMW Finance, for no charge at all. Now, on to BMW Assist. BMW #4 was caught in a 10-inch rain storm and flooding late one night. I pushed the emergency button (my cell phone, wouldn’t you know it, was at 5%) and guess what? BMW Assist ,had no record of the car. ,They asked that I get out, and find the VIN: in a foot of water, thunder and lightening of biblical strength, and with no flashlight (the electrics were mostly out by this time, street lights out). I finally convinced them I owned the car and they agreed to send a tow. It would be there in two hours! (This was taking place in downtown Miami, very near the dealer). The tow, the useless rep told me, was tied up on the 10 Freeway — in Jacksonville! A six hour drive away. She had zero idea about Florida geography. Zero common sense. Incredible. I used the remaining 1% on the cell to call the insurance company and get a tow. So I complained to BMW North America. Their excuse: BMW Assist is outsourced and they do not have day-to-day oversight of service quality. The “Not my department!” argument. They did send me a nice make-up a gift: A huge BMW golf ,umbrella,. So fitting. I am fortunate in that the cars have so little need for maintenance or repair, given the bureaucratic, slow, and sometimes rude service departments. I well remember having a bushing problem on the M3 which was not repaired on the first visit. I mentioned this in the post-visit survey BMW conducted after the second visit — I was strongly encouraged to give the dealer a 5 rating by the service rep — prompting the service manager actually call and chastise me for giving them a 3. Apparently someone told me — they most assuredly did not — that the bushing fix would take about 500 miles of driving before the new lubricant kicked in. So don’t bring it in for a second visit. Sorry to be so negative. Love, love, love the cars. Just hate all the bad service that surrounds it. I wonder if this is just a U.S. thing, or if they actually put up with this in Germany and the rest of Europe? As much as I like the cars, I may finally switch next time.
