Review Q&A mitsubishi evo 3

What is the coolest car you can buy for under $15k? I'm interested in finding cars that have some personality but something I can still pay cash for.

Shopping carefully, you can find a Mitsubishi EVO, A subaru WRX, any number of LSX powered V8 GM cars, several different turbo diesel pickup trucks, MazdaSpeed 3, Lexus GS430, Honda S2000, Mustang GT, all come to mind as good cool fun cars that won't kill your wallet with maintenance costs. Notice I didn't mention any German cars because they're simply unreliable and expensive to repair and maintain. I know a lot of people are huge fans but they're just not worth the hassle in my opinion. Theyre great when everything is working but why deal with that when you can get the same performance but better reliablity and lower ownership costs with Japanese or American brands. Everything I mentioned is fun to drive when stock and even more fun when modified. Modifications are relatively inexpensive for all those vehicles as well.

Are police cars faster than normal cars?

In general police pursuit cars are faster than most normal cars. It does depend on where you live. Dubai,: The police have ~10 high performance sports cars. World's fastest police car can reach 253 mph Dubai Police Supercars Explained: The Full Story Italy,: Run 3 sports cars including a ,Lamborghini Huracan Meet Italy's 200 mph crimefighter: A Lamborghini British Police: ,Have a variety of high performance cars; Ford Mustangs, BMW M6’s, VW’s , Mitsubishi EVO IX FQ360. And even this little beauty, an Ariel Atom. (0-60 mph in under 2.5sec) Australia: Has a similar set of vehicles. Top Five NSW Police Supercars NSW Police embraces the exotic with a new BMW i8 and Audi S7 https://www.carsales.com.au/editorial/details/australias-fastest-police-car-revealed-101706/ Yet for all these fast cars, most are completely unnecessary. Chasing criminals often leads to high speed pursuits which pose an extremely high risk to other motorists, pedestrians & the pursuing officers. For that reason they are often called off. Helicopters are a much safer way to pursue an offender. And in most urban areas, police air can get there quick. In some countries they also have a good relationship with News & Traffic choppers to help spot the bad guys, till Pol-Air can get there. Some cites are now using High Altitude Drones to monitor, everything. Often the car is not stolen. Once they have your number plate, they can wait for you to come home. And arrest you then.

It's now January 1, 2030. What are the '20s known for?

What happened to Mitsubishi cars, why are they not popular anymore?

In the 90s they were good really really good coming out with things like active aero and sports exhaust on the 3000GT. Then came the Mitsubishi Evo with the 4G63 engine which they even collaborated with AMG to tune. Then slowly into the 2000s Mitsubishi started losing their touch and started having some money problems they abandoned Ralliart and rally racing, they discontinued several iconic models and engines. Gone was the 4G63 engine, gone the VR4, gone was the dual clutch and manual transmissions found in the Evo along with the Mitsubishi Evo following en suite. In 2015 we finally saw Mitsubishi's fire go out with the ending of the Evo. So we kept our fingers crossed and hoped for the best. We we're praying Mitsubishi would bring back one of the legends from old gold era of Mitsubishi. In 2018 we got slapped in the face the Mitsubishi Eclipse (an iconic name in Mitsubishi's history) made a come back but not as a sports car, not with a sports engine, not even with a manual or a dual clutch but as a goddamn crossover with a fucking 1.5 litre straight 4 cylinder that produced a measly 120kW of power and 250 N.m of torque. They even cheaped out by putting a slow noisy migraine inducing CVT in the damn thing. The worst out of the whole bunch was the Lancer Ex you could put dent in piece of shit just by slapping it. It's like Mitsubishi saw Ford and were like yeah screw build quality let's cheap out in everything! If you're looking for a good Mitsubishi get a lancer Evo 3. Screw whatever they have now.

If you could own any car from any time, which one would it be?

Shelby 500 gt 2020 .coz 5.2L ‘V8’ with 760HP 2. Toyota supra MkIV HAHA no one disagrees 2JZ 3. Bentley Bentayga Most powerful SUV in the world rocks a W12 Looks are great 8. 67 ford Mustang a Classic american muscle with V8 dont deny one someone says muscle the first car pops in the mind. 9. Dodge charger R/T 1970 I just like it Looks awe after fitting a supercharger intake up the hood. 10. Ferrari GTO U tell me why ????

Is it true that more cylinders in a vehicle doesn’t necessarily mean more power in many cases?

It no longer means more power, but it often used to in the recent past 40+ years ago. Before small yet cheap, computer-controlled engines, made with amazing tolerances, precision timing, excellent turbos and efficient exhausts and intakes, modelled by fluid dynamicists, the likes of which are installed in most modern cars (but which still only manage 30% efficiency), if you wanted more power you either went bigger or had more cylinders or went bigger ,and ,had more cylinders. The issue was that with the technology available there was a maximum amount of power you could squeeze out of a cylinder of any given displacement. So you needed more power, you could make bigger cylinders. The problem is engines are machines that harness explosions to turn a shaft. The bigger the cylinder is, the bigger the bangs and the more vibration felt by the passengers and endured by the chassis or frame of the vehicle. Ask any biker whether a 500cc single-cylinder engine is preferable to a 500cc twin or 4-cylinder? There was even a 500cc V8 motorcycle engine for this very reason. If you wanted smoother engines but they still had to be as powerful, you went for a larger number of cylinders. As such engines were made that had incredible complexity, here is an example of bigger and more cylinders: By Highflier - Self-made taken at the USAF Museum; Dayton, OH, CC BY-SA 3.0, ,File:Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp Major 1.jpg This is a 28 cylinder engine, of 71 litres displacement making between 2850 HP and 4500 HP depending on the model. Shortly after this, the pinnacle of piston-powered aero engines was made, the gas and jet turbine arrived to take over. This engine managed a power to weight ratio of 1.11 hp/lb, which compares well to say a Mazda RX8 at 0.92 hp/lb (1 cylinder - kind of), or a Kawasaki 1.5L supercharged Jetski at 0.29 hp/lb (four cylinders). A typical V8 turbo diesel engine manages 0.4 hp/lb. So a combination of lots of cylinders and large displacement certainly helped to make a lot of power in the era before engines became much better and more ingeniously engineered. Why not fit a 5.3L V12 (Jaguar XJS) engine into a modern car? Because a 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo engine (Mitsubishi EVO VIII) also has 300 bhp, one costs about 5 times less to make and is about 3 times more reliable, producing half the emissions. Oh yes, and the Mitzy engine is about 1/3 of the size and weight. A 6 Cylinder F1 1.6L engine manages to make 800bhp and last for 1300 miles at 40–50% thermal efficiency. Adding more cylinders isn't necessary to make a 2021 engine more powerful, though it was necessary to make a 1940s engine more powerful.

Many cars enthusiasts considered the Mitsubishi Evo as one of the hottest cars around 2005. What happened to them and why does it seem they have become obscure as of 2020?

They have become obscure because Mitsubishi stopped making them. The last Evo, the Lancer Evo X, was discontinued in 2016, and there was no successor. The entire Lancer range has been discontinued in 2017, with the exception of China. So there haven't been any new Lancers for the rest of the world for the last 3 years. Mitsubishi no longer makes any sedans. So all Lancers, including the Evos, are slowly disappearing.

Have you ever had a car that had a personality?

This little girl… oh whoops, wrong photo! Ahh.. that’s better. She was a 2004 Mazda 3 2.3l, and ive owned multiple cars after her, and Ive yet have to find a car that’s as good. It seems like an unassuming, cheap grocery getter, but boy oh boy did it drive much more than that. The steering was HEAVY and DIRECT, if i drove over a pebble I would probably be able to tell you what type of rock it was by the steering feedback. It ,talked ,to me. The gas pedal was deliciously smooth. It was very touchy, you didn’t need to move your foot too much to get up and going, but it was predictable. If you pressed it 50%, you would get 50% power, it’s something so simple that many car manufacturers don’t do. And the brakes. Oh. My. You could stop on a DIME. The slightest touch of the brakes would bring you to a stop. The brakes alone inspired confidence, and made you feel safe. They were not mushy and they also provided a lot of feedback. When I say feedback I mean, when you were heavy braking and the front tires are gripping, the brake pedal would push against your foot. Whereas if you’re braking and you’re about to slip, you’ll notice the brake pedal start to go soft, so you’d know to back off the brakes a little. Also, the dashboard of the car was LOW. You could see EVERYTHING out of the car, nothing was in your way and the window was LARGE with thin pillars, so you had small blind spots. The steering wheel itself was on the smaller size, which was AMAZING because it felt like you were driving a go kart. That coupled with a very communicative steering and a very light car with like no blind zones and gorgeous brake/gas feel. Ugh. You were SO involved when you drove. I fell in love. I’m still in love. I’ve driven Mitsubishi Evos, Subaru STIs, Camaros, Corvettes, Mustangs, Golf GTIs, you name it… But I still can’t replicate the feeling of a gen 1 Mazda 3… And as you can see, I got rear ended pretty bad. She was totalled. I recently read an article that talked about how Mazda is the new BMW. BMW was known for its driving involvement, but they’ve since been creating not so amazing cars that lost the drivers involvement. And Mazda’s everyday, normal cars, are capturing that involvement that BMW lost. I wholeheartedly agree. Drive one, just trust me, give the little guy a shot, you won’t regret it.

Have you ever bought a car from eBay?

Yes, I’ve bought a few (some from gumtree, but its all the same). Land Rover 90 - Cheap, petrol, ran well with no rust. It had a few minor problems in the time I owned it, but nothing major. Sold it for the same as I paid. Land Rover 110 - An old commercial diesel. I broke the high/low ratio linkage on the test drive and had to push it back to the guys house. I bought it anyway. When I tried to sell it, nobody would buy it so I ended up giving it to my dad. It has since tripled in value. Grr. Land Rover Discovery 1 Auto - This was amazing; no rust, ran well and good fun. I ended up not liking automatics as I missed the control of a manual so I sold it as a transmission conversion cost the same as the car. I sold it for a bit less as I needed it gone quickly as I already had my next car. Mitsubishi Evo IV. On the surface, this was a great car. Underneath, it was a piece of ****. The AYC had gone to the point where the rear diff had seized up. Google “welded diffs” for an example of symptoms. The brakes were seized and warped, bits didn’t work and it was all made worse being in such a quick car. And the rust…. I don’t know how it was still together. I made a massive loss on that car but it was fun for a bit, so no regrets. I thought the fella I sold it to was going to use it as spare parts, but it is currently on ebay with none of the repair work needed mentioned. I feel sorry for whoever gets that. Land Rover Discovery 1 manual - Yes! I got a manual for cheap! And it was cheap for a reason, The prop shaft just fell off while driving one day, and the rust was so bad. Sold that for half I paid to a guy who was DEFINITELY only using it for spares. Subaru Impreza N/A wagon - Amazing car, bought for cheap and it hasn’t given me any problems…. I don’t think I’ll be selling it any time soon! So my lessons are to always check a car thoroughly before buying, and don’t impulse buy like me. That being said, I’m bidding on a lovely 80s RX7 which I’m sure will cost me a small fortune over the next few months :/
