Review Q&A diy tyre chair

How old is your car? Why would you not change/buy a new one?

I own a 2007 Model Alabaster Silver Honda Civic SMT. So it is a 12 years old car and clocked 90k kms. My monthly running covers an average of 500km. Keeping this requirement I won’t change it for another 3years. It is well maintained and I will list out why I don’t want an immediate replacement:- > I almost taken care of even a small repair to be done. > ,Suspension,. First thing of a car is its riding comfort. It has got independent suspension on rear wheels, which I feel a great plus as it is not even available in comparable class like Toyota Corolla. It works perfectly and hydraulics are good. If you look back the Maruti ,ESTEEM, BALENO,,HM, CONTESSA ,and Mitsubishi ,LANCER, had independent rear coil over suspensions and so their rear seat journey were praiseworthy. After these cars I rarely find independent suspension in any car of this segment and it is only available in premium range. The Civic shocks are dampened well and there is a great comfort . The body roll-over tendency during hard turns is very minimal and stable. >,Body ,. There is no rattling noise and loose panels. The doors are also in good condition with dampened closing. The paint condition is presentable though some panels require a retouch.Tyres are of Bridgestone Turanza and it can atleast pull another 20k kms. >,Engine,(Global spec R18 used in all Civic variants). It has got a revv-happy 1.8L i-VTEC Petrol engine of 130 bhp which rides smooth and there is no dearth of power. Gives mileage a decent 11kmpl in city and 15kmpl in highway always with AC. >,Handling and Driving comfort,. I personally like low seating platform, which can keep the legs in a relaxed way and good for long drives where the other cars have chair type seating which I don’t like. The steering is telescopic and tiltable. It can be positioned close to lap and you can rest your both elbows on the hand-rests which I think a good ergonomic design. Gear shifting also done from the resting position of left hand. So when you are driving right hand on steering and other on gear makes a comfortable posture for swift changes and manoeuvring. >,Air Conditioner with ACC, . The fan speed at 1st position (total six positions)is enough for my comfort and its compressor on/off cycle are not felt either at cabin or at pedals. Another unique provision is that it has got air vents beneath the frontseats which blows to foot area of rear passengers. In winters it is so relaxing. >,Rear seat comfort,. My parents love to travel at rear due to better thigh support and wide space available. There is an audio remote available at the rear hand rest too. >,Long drive capability,. You can effortlessly travel long distances by consistently maintaining cruising speeds of 80kmph on normal roads and 110–120 on highways without much pedal pressure. The gear shifting is pretty much easier though being Manual Transmission.Engine is still capable of pressing more. I have gone upto a max speed of 135 kmph. > ,Safety,. It has two airbags in front and Honda recently replaced the air bag bottles without any additional cost. The vehicle was called by the company for this purpose. All wheels are equipped with disc brakes for effective braking. Other features such as ABS, engine immobiliser all are working. >,Music system,. The car has got a six speaker with amp from ,ALPINE, and quality of sound is awesome. In general, the cabin noise is very less and you will really enjoy the clarity of music from your mobile via Bluetooth(I have additionally fitted). Originally it had a 6CD changer and No AUX/USB. I have done a DIY AUX by tweaking the CD changer connector. >,Looks,. It’s still a great presence on road.I have modified to latest 2013 model by replacing the front bumper, grille and fog lamps and rear tail lamp cluster (it was a ready fit). >Lastly I always keep my vehicle clean and tyres in shining black.

What is the most Indian thing ever?

Innovation in India has been witnessed ever since the early 7000 BCE from the Indus Valley ancient dentistry and several other present day essentials like Buttons Stepwell Weighing Scale Ruler Shampoo Spinning Wheel and other numerous innovations. Now in the present generation innovation has taken a new turn towards something called ,Jugaad Indians call life hacks in hindi as ,JUGAAD, i.e something like an innovative fix which involves a lot of logical thinking and signifies creativity and out of the box thinking. One does Jugaad to replace the present things with combining something and making it look cool and easy to use especially with cheap and easily available resources. It is cost effective and efficient way of using resources or creating things out of nothing. Jugaad is based on the concept of Frugal Engineering. Frugal Engineering is reducing the cost of complex nature and cost of good thereby rendering a change in the cost of production of the good so that its cost efficient and easy to make. It is the effective and innovative utilization of unwanted/unessential parts of a strong and durable good and using such products in designing a new product based on the weirdest possible match to it. Its rather unconventional in usage but very simple and funny at times. Jugaad is applying simple life hacks on everyday necessities if they have some repair or small issues instead replacing it to a new one. Jugaad has several allied meanings Jugaad roughly corresponds to do-it-yourself (,DIY,) in the ,US,, hacking in the ,UK,, ,zìzhǔ chuàngxīn, (自主创新) in ,China,, Trick 17 in ,Germany,, ,gambiarra, in ,Brazil,, ,système D., in ,France,. Now coming to what Jugaad really is ? Jugaad means a quadricycle which is a vehicle having 4 bicycle tyres with an engine driving the back wheels. Its a mode of transport in rural areas of India wherein its made of wood planks, old car parts, home made art etc. Its a cheap, modified vehicle to be having the capacity to carry over 4 people. They were having poor braking system and are accident borne , thus now we dont find them much in use today . In India, these jugaads have been replaced by Auto/ 7 Seaters Lets see what Jugaad lead to ... ChotuKool Fridge Its sold to Godrej and they have done some technical changes to it. MittiCool Fridge This was made by Mansukhbhai Prajapati, an Indian Inventor. He has lateron gained a lot of support by the Indian Government and media too. Bed Laptop When you are too lazy and want to have entertainment. This just requires a Tape wherein it has been tied to both sides so that it gets some strength to hold on at that angle. Copper Coil Fan AC All homes dont really have an AC but to withstand high temperatures and in a cost friendly way and using science to rescue, this fan provides you the feeling of an AC. Mercedes Benz Dreams You may not own the Benz as a car, but as fancy office desk which gets a lot of attention. Bike with Sunroof Bike with Cycle horn When you cant even afford a bike but you want a bike Chair in a car , who needs leather seats ! LOL. CPU as book shelf Lets learn how to avoid shedding tears while dicing onions When the shower is not working and you need a shower When you are a Mechanical Engineer but dont have any job. Hostel life, iron box as a heater What did i just see ! A toy gun. When its festival and you need to go to your village at any cost and you dont get a ticket to travel in train. When you’re too lazy but smart This Scooter from the movie 3 IDIOTS was used to crush wheat/other grains as a mill. Do watch this video about a new Jugaad knife. Whats interesting is, there is a separate Institution for such innovations to develop called ‘National Innovation Foundation’ (NIF) and promote the new ideas and skills in manufacturing such products and earning investments and patents for such products. They are in search for technological innovators who make scrap to durable goods and have potential to re-use any unessential parts. It is now under Department of Science and Technology(DST), Government of India. NIF also organizes IGNITE, an annual national competition to harness the creative and innovative spirit of school children. Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, former President of India gave awards to creative children of the country every year since 2008 till 2014. NIF has decided to commemorate IGNITE awards in his memory as Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE awards so that creative children continue to draw inspiration from his spirit. Presently Pranab Mukherjee is presenting the NIF awards after Late APJ Abdul Kalam. Here’s their official website. National Innovation Foundation-India The complete list of useful innovations which are designed under NIF from art to agriculture and from utility devices to cosmetics they have come up with several new innovative products. Please click on the catalogue link and have a look! I feel happy to see marginal sector and small scale farmers and rural areas are able to come up with such brilliant ideas. Technology Catalogue Now after Narendra Modi came up with the initiative of, “Make In India “ ,NIF may sure have got some additional support from the Government of India in bringing out innovators across all sectors for both commercial and non commercial usage. Yes, NIF is not known to everyone, I hence tried to share this so that readers get to know more about it. Innovation is taking two things that already exist and putting them together in a new way - Tom Freston This is Jugaad explained in a Quote Hope India keeps making more and more Innovations and hope these get wider acceptance than some foreign products we use. We just aren’t software brains, we have some innovative brains too, please make them famous. One such person who is trying to make Jugaad wide spread is Dr. Jaideep Prabhu. How do I wire a mobile home for electricity?

Most come prewired, and have a plug in socket for an extension cord (or two) If yours hasn't, and you have to ask here how to- then you shouldn't be doing it- get a professional in who can do it safely One small mistake, and you- or someone else- could be a ‘crispy critter’, ‘fried chicken’, ‘toasted’, well I think you get the message… (mobile homes are worse than houses when it comes to being dangerous when DIY goes wrong, as they tend to have a lot of metal framework etc that could be livened up, and as they are sitting on rubber tyres, if the wiring faulty includes a faulty earth connection, it can be a electric chair just waiting to happen….)

What are some DIY furniture items you've made that don't fall into standard furniture types but you find really useful?

ODD FURNITURE: Being so highly self-sufficient, we have to convert ot make many items. Our outdoor hot shower is a big flat-bottom bucket with a tap-spray on the bottom. It hangs from the high veranda & we take showers below, both standing in a large drum also containing laundry that we trample on. When finished empty, I turn it upside down & it becomes a lounge chair small coffee table. Out Brilliant toilet is simply a meter or 2 ground hole with a metal cylinder topped by a seat or cut tyre + lid - not unlike Aztecs & Incas etc used . They would dig stuff out after about 2 years for fertiliser. We simply planted a food tree in top of hole + filled with soil; then dug another hole. NEVER FAILS. Lots more too.

What is the best exercise to burn calories without weights indoors?

The first step is very cliche’ but it's just the one that matters most - eat less. If you can manage that, you have less calories to deal with. Food is not material it is chemical so you have to force the excess to go away. You should see roughly 90 calories = 1 hour of survival w/ minimal activity. Thats the best advice there is. So if you are 100lbs overweight, there are 3500 cals in a lb or 7500 in 1kg that's 35/75 hours you can survive without eating, per pound over, with ample water intake *in a low activity state. but everyone likes to eat so it will be much longer than that, realistically. That is why people turn to excercise because running is close to 900–1000 calories burned per hour, essentially speeding your basic rate metabolism through 10 hours in 1 hour, so its 90% more efficient to rely on excercise to cut the fat rather than not eating or dieting, both id say are far more unpleasent due to the extended length of time to be endured. Indoor (static) bicycle. You don't need a Wattbike Pro or Peloton (although they are the superior choice, they are outrageously expensive!) , you can go cheap and just as effective, what you do is buy a regular bike, build a stabilising A frame out of wood that you can clamp the bike in and take out for outdoor use in summer or if you know welding would be better as it can be more adjustable, less material to use, you raise bike off the floor onto bike rollers, when you jump on it as normal it should be solid as a rock, next you have a simple winding handle connected to a long brake pad system causing friction on the rollers to manually adjust the resistance of tyre and roller. A cog wheel and roller system would be even better but for simplicity regular rubber wheel will do. There should be no complicated electronics involved in the setup. If you want a battery monitor for miles and heart rate etc then you go and get that. I would produce a video to explain but personally id go for a pre made indoor bike. The key is all in getting the resistance right, most indoor bikes prices revolve around the resistance, you want to feel like you're working hard on the bike and get it for less money. DIY might be the way. Each part is 25% so bike, frame, bicycle rollers and screw down breaking pads (like engineer vice threaded bolt like a T shape) Next you might consider simple, low fuss, low stress and no DIY options, look at buying a step, like a very low table, step up, step up down, just keep doing that. People may laugh, but it gets the job done, easy to store out the way. No problem. It's a no brainer. Break out “The Step” perfect for winter months You can do similar with a chair, get up and down repeatedly. Sounds easy but youll soon work a sweat doing that. Again might sound and look funny but it works. Don't bash it. Any number of bodyweight excercises as mentioned, self explanatory. Im a big fan of freestanding pull up bar, these are much safer than the door frame type which we've all seen in the “fail” video's, again very easy to make your own or buy Pullup Mate for example, use gymnast rings for upper body work or rope climb/hang to improve grip. My brother tells me he can workout with a towel, i too like the idea of being able to excercise like a minimalist, the minimal amount of “stuff” except the bare bones. No thrills, no spills, the end goal is to get the job done by any means necessary however weights do take up space and are semi-permanent, you have limited options with weights but cardio is anywhere in the world. Remember Safety is always the number 1 priority when doing any excercises to avoid hurting yourself. If it doesn't look safe, feel safe or have a decent approved/tested safety rating, don't risk it. You don't get a second chance to live.
