Yes. My wife drives a Peugeot 3008 2011 model in Australia. It's built in France where they drive on the other side of course. Now here is the interior, French version. It's a bit hard to see but on the right in the picture there's the center storage area with the grey lid. It doesn't open backwards, like many other cars, it opens sideways. The open lid will lean against the passenger seat. Guess what they didn't change when they changed the car to right hand drive… The lid still opens the same way, except now you have to reach over the open lid to get into the storage area. Very awkward.
We look at diesel-hybrid cars and SUVs and why they would make so much sense We know that diesel vehicles are efficient and usually have a great life span allowing several years of use while still maintaining great overall mileage. Today we see that newly designed diesel engines are running cleaner and more efficient than ever. The same goes for hybrid technology as we see that vehicles are becoming more efficient and thanks to more durable batteries, we are getting more life out of the hybrid battery packs. In fact the battery packs are becoming so durable the companies such as Hyundai are giving a lifetime warranty on the battery packs of their hybrid vehicles. So it’s only a matter time before someone would try to merge a diesel and hybrid powertrain therefore producing a highly efficient vehicle. Volkswagen introduces a Diesel-Hybrid SUV At the 2012 Geneva Auto Show, Volkswagen introduced their off-road concept vehicle that utilized a diesel-hybrid powertrain. The vehicle had a turbocharged 1.8 L diesel engine mated to an electric assisted motor and together Volkswagen claims up to 131 miles per gallon. They also claim that the 4000 pound vehicle can get from 0 to 60 in 6.5 seconds. Those results are pretty stunning and since this was a concept, you could pretty much say whatever you wanted to about your product because nobody would be able to drive it. Yet Volkswagen has already been caught testing another diesel-hybrid yet in a car form, sort of. Volkswagen has been working on a diesel-hybrid car under the name of XL1. The 2014 Volkswagen XL1 uses a 800cc Turbo-diesel engine to produce less than 50 horse power but around 89 pound feet of torque. Then the 27 horse power electric motor assists the diesel engine helping to push the 1749 pound car. Volkswagen is claiming up to 235 miles per gallon with this ultra light and streamlined vehicle. With so little power it appears that the vehicle won’t be winning you any races unless you’re going for extreme distance. But what is neat about these Volkswagens the fact that the company is working on developing highly efficient vehicles by using off-the-shelf technology. So therefore if we can simply get Americans to start purchasing diesel vehicles then we should see some diesel-electric vehicle development being driven by other manufacturers. Diesel Hybrid Heavy Duty Trucks and Commercial Uses We see the trains today offer incredible efficiency thanks to diesel generators producing electricity in order to power the locomotive. So why couldn’t we do this with heavy-duty trucks as well as commercial grade vehicles therefore producing much better fuel efficiency and saving the business owner’s a fortune in fuel bills. Either way it looks though that Volkswagen is making headway with the technology and hopefully we will see other companies catch on and start producing diesel-hybrid vehicles. For 2013 we will start to see diesels coming into American markets but still all depends whether the vehicles sell or not. Eco cars delivering the best of both worlds Who says being good to the environment has to mean reduced performance? Our hybrid car range provides you with both high performance and eco-friendly driving through our HYbrid4 technology. These environmentally-friendly cars are powered by both a diesel engine and an electric motor to deliver high fuel efficiency and low emissions. Peugeot leads the way with its hybrid cars. The spacious 3008 HYbrid4 was the world’s first full diesel hybrid car and delivers high style, efficiency and practicality. Or, for complete interior luxury, choose the 508 RXH, or the 508 HYbrid4 - the latest green car in our range. On each of our hybrid cars you’ll find a dial on the central console to switch between four hybrid car driving modes – Auto, ZEV (Zero Emissions Vehicle), 4WD, and Sport. These low emissions cars use our innovative e-HDi Stop & Start systems, allowing you to get more miles for your fuel money. And better still, because of their low CO2 emissions, our hybrid cars benefit from the lower ‘benefit in kind’ (BIK) taxation, if you’re using a Peugeot eco car as a company vehicle.
Opel Insignia A good all-rounder. Useful for commuting to work every day and shopping too. Reasonably comfy and roomy enough for a family of 5. Peugeot 3008 European Car of The Year 2017 The best small SUV, absolutely good looking. and the best interior design in the whole segment. Also the 1.2l turbo-petrol engine is one of the best engines under 2l and has one of the flatest torque curves ever. Audi A8 Best luxury sedan in the market right now. Lovely exterior, fabulous interior and the highest-tech ever. Mazda MX-5 A fun car to drive on weekends. Kudos to Mazda Audi R8 My favourite sports car, looks good as well, 0-100 in 3 seconds and handles very well. __________________________________________________ Edit: Someone asked me to list other cars, so here are some honorable mentions: Nissan GT-R The iconic supercar driven by the legendary Bryan O’Conner. Alfa Romeo Guillia If you want a sporty luxurious sedan that is rivals sports cars, this car is the perfect choice. Tesla Model S The car that redefined electric vehicles in the 21st century. BMW i8 Best hybrid car ever. BMW X1 Best small luxury SUV.
Peugeot’s 5008 has been transformed from a boxy MPV to a sleek SUV, but can it follow the 3008’s success as it hits Britain? Should I buy one? Before we answer that, let’s take a look at the new 5008 from a design point of view. It not only ploughs a different furrow from its bland predecessor, but also to other seven-seat SUVs on the market. The chiselled front, contrasting roof, boutique-like interior and diamond-cut alloys give it a strong look next to cars like the Skoda Kodiaq and Nissan X-Trail.
Not a bad car. Drives well, interior is nice and of good quality. Then there's the engine. Assuming it's the turbo petrol ep6, when they're running right, they're a very good engine. But they suffer from some “issues” which, in fairness to peugeot, they have attempted to rectify by releasing modified or uprated parts. It is vital that the engine is run on 0w30 oil. It is vital that the engine is run on premium unleaded of 95 octane or above, anything below causes detonation which can and will blow a hole through the piston top (seen it personally, replaced the engine). I'm not going to go into all the fine details of the problems, as I work for the brand and I don't know who is going to be reading this, but I'm sure if you carry out an Internet search you'll come across them easily enough.
I own a 308 2nd gen aka T9. It’s a fantastic car with a good looking interior and exterior. I have it with the 1.6thp 165, it performs good and has good mileage around 7L/100k it’s summer here and it’s around 40°C that’s probably why it takes more fuel than it should. The only annoying thing about it in my opinion is the Automatic gearbox it doesn’t perform well with the engine sure it’s al reliable and bulletproof but performance wise I’d rather have a manual.
Skoda Kodiaq – first Skoda's seven seater. it's worth of £30k and standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control and an 8.0in touchscreen infotainment screen with smartphone mirroring. Land Rover Discover – much like its predecessor, the latest Discovery is a whopping great seven-seater. It represents a big step forward for Land Rover, because it’s more practical than most of its rivals, suitably posh inside and great to drive on and off road. Peugeot 5008 – unlike its fellow French car makers, Peugeot has embraced the increasing demand for SUVs – so much so that it’s turned its family-friendly MPVs into rugged looking SUVs. The 5008 is the larger of the pair (the 3008 is the other). As well as a practical interior with seating for seven, the 5008 has standout styling inside and outside, and it’s even good to drive. In fact, it's our Large SUV of the Year for 2018. Volkswagen Touran – the latest Touran doesn't really have any major weaknesses. It's very practical and comfortable, with a high-quality interior. On top of that, the third row of seats are spacious enough to accommodate even tall adults and they stow easily into the boot floor when not in use. All this comes at a reasonable price with decent running costs. In fact, our favourite 1.6-litre diesel model returned an impressive 51.5mpg in our True MPG real-world fuel economy test. Audi Q7 – it has four-wheel drive to gain some off-road ability, but it’s geared towards sure-footed on-road use rather than traversing muddy fields. It’s also an extremely practical car with a generously proportioned interior and huge boot. But what really sets the Q7 apart is its stunning interior, sensational refinement and pillowy ride.
