Having a nice car could help. Depending on the kind of girl you want to attract. Problem is: a girl that’s attracted to you because of your car is more than likely interested in you because that car represents the fact that you are showing off that you have money. She may expect you to spend quite a lot of money on her. I’m sure there are cases where she is simply a car enthusiast and she is super interested in the car for reasons other than it being a status simple or a representation of your wealth. In that case it’s a fantastic conversation starter. But you know what? My girlfriend is kinda into cars, she likes Volvo’s. I could’ve impressed her with a 2011 Volvo. It would’ve been just as much of a conversation starter as an R8. No matter what, finding a significant other is complex. In most cases I’d advise against finding someone by impressing them with your car. Be interesting, polite, interested in them, find a connection, common ground. Things like that.
Better for what? If it's to occasionally track the car, you will never get either car to go at it's limits unless you have the driving skills equal to that of a professional driver. If you need to have the car to impress others, either car will do. They are both rare and beautiful pieces of automotive engineering at the highest level. And neither the 488 or the R8 are a Bugatti Veyron if you are a fanboy. Only the R8 can be used as a daily driver. The suspension is forgiving enough to use the car to go to and from work while navigating potholes and speed bumps. If the road is great, put it into track mode and off you go. I've never seen a Ferrari parked in the lot at a CVS or Whole Foods. Chris Harris, a well known car reviewer blew the lid on Ferrari performance numbers and why they can't be replicated on any individually owned car., Ferrari preps the test cars for days for the specific venue, road conditions, and weather before permitting performance testing. They bring 2 cars, one for straight line and another for handling testing. Huh? Porsche just drops the test car off in a trailer and asks the testers when they want the car picked up. The car can be taken anywhere for testing. How bad has it been? I honestly don't know where to start. Perhaps the 360 Modena press car that was two seconds faster to 100mph than the customer car we also tested. You allow some leeway for "factory fresh" machines, but this thing was ludicrously quick and sounded more like Schumacher's weekend wheels than a street car. Ferrari will never admit that its press cars are tuned, but has the gall to turn up at any of the big European magazines' end-of-year-shindig-tests with two cars. One for straight line work, the other for handling exercises. Because that's what happens when you buy a 458: they deliver two for just those eventualities. The whole thing stinks. In any other industry it wouldn't be allowed to happen. It's dishonest, but all the mags take it between the cheeks because they're too scared of not being invited to drive the next new Ferrari. What Ferrari plainly cannot see is that its strategy to win every test at any cost is completely counter-productive. First, it completely undermines the amazing work of its own engineers. What does it say about a 458 if the only way its maker is willing to loan it to a magazine is if a laptop can be plugged in after every journey and a dedicated team needs to spend several days at the chosen test track to set-up the car? It says they're completely nuts –- behavior that looks even worse when rival brands just hand over their car with nothing more than a polite suggestion that you should avoid crashing it too heavily, and then return a week later. How Ferrari Spins
If you’re looking to save a substancial amount of money, purchase the 180k Audi R8. If you’re looking for a uber-luxurious, fast supercar, purchase the 300k 488. If you’re looking to go balls-out and have little to no luxuries in a super-car, and hear the sound of the massive V12, purchase the 600k Aventador SV.
Well: Audi V10 > V8 Ferrari = V10 is naturally more powerful AWD > RWD = Accelerates quicker, better control on the road and in various everyday conditions Audi parts > Ferrari parts = It’s probably way easier and way cheaper to find Audi parts Practicability of the R8 > Practicability of the F430 = the R8 is simply more practical Daily use of the R8 > daily use of the F430 = the R8 is more daily drivable than the F430 Discretion of the R8 > “discretion” of the F430 = even if the R8 isn’t really an example of anonymity, it’s still way less prompt to be looked at than the F430: its style is more discreet than the F430 which is screaming LOOK AT ME (the F430 is still more inconspicuous than a Gallardo though) The R8 V10 is basically two cars in same time: a Gallardo and a R8. The engine is coming from the Gallardo, explaining why. To me, you simply have more ,car, in the R8 V10 than in the F430. I would personally choose a R8 V10 over a F430 immediately. However, if you would want to be correct, you should compare instead the 458 Italia with the R8 V10: they’re of the same generation of ,budget supercars,.
As Rick points out, the question is whether you're looking for 0-60 speed or speed around the track. For speed around the track, I'd strongly suggest not modding the car, but modding the driver instead. Go to some racing schools like Skip Barber and learn to drive at the limit before pouring money into the car. It's the best money you can spend. A modded car stuffed into the wall at the track is a lot slower than a stock car with a driver who doesn't lose it in turn 2, the esses or turns 10/11 at Sonoma. Zero-60 is a ridiculous measurement for a street car IMO, because the single largest contributing factor is transmission gearing. You can have all the power in the world, but with the wrong gearing, the car will be "slow". For example, a GT3 is not geared for 0-60. It's got long gears so you have to shift less and can drive in the optimal RPM band the longest. It's a race car. Trying to mod that car with more power, more grip, etc. will be useless for 0-60 times. The Turbo on the other hand is the car aimed at the class of buyers who just want to show off with an expensive car, so it's geared for 0-60 and it has AWD to prevent excursions to ditches by untrained drivers plus better grip under acceleration. All that said, the new Turbo S clocks in at a claimed 2.9s 0-60. Porsche notoriously understates these numbers, so it's actually 2.6s as independently tested. A 2015 R8 V10 is 3.2s (claimed) and a 458 is 3.0 (tested). Some numbers to ponder: ,List of fastest production cars by acceleration

How can anyone describe sounds in words any more than you can describe colors in words? vroom vroom, MMMMMMMMMMMMM VROOM?
The Audi has a 5.2L V10, but it’s naturally aspirated, so it’s weaker than the Ferrari. The Ferrari uses a 3.9L turbocharged V8, making 660 horsepower compared to the R8’s 610. Yes, the R8 is a very powerful car. It’s just not as powerful as the 488.
I have driven both on a race track, and I would get the R8. I feel it fits my driving style better, and it feels very solid built. The Ferrari feels more special, looks better and sounds better. It might even hold its value better than the R8. But only looking at the experience behind the wheel, R8 is still my favorite of the two. I wouldn’t get either of them though. I’m in love with McLaren and have driven most of their cars. In the same price range you will find a 570S, and to me that’s the right choice. It’s so driver focused and everything feels natural and predictable. I feel I’m a better driver behind the wheel of a 570S. An outsider I would also consider is Porsche 911 GT3RS. There are really some great options in this segment, and it should come down to which car you feel fits your needs and driving style the most.
Because the 2020 C8 Corvette Stingray can compete with the best cars Europe and Japan have to offer. And for the first time in history you can buy a brand new Corvette with the steering wheel on the correct side of the vehicle.
