The best car service provider in kuala lumpur is gomechanic. Just found them last week while working in Malaysia. They give me good car repair options, reliable services and top quality work in their workshops. Good team does fantastic work. I took my Toyota Avanza to the nearest Gomechanic workshop. The team serviced my car and gave me discounted price. They gave me coolant top-up, air filter cleaning, wiper fluid replacement, oil filter replacement. They washed my car and had an anti bacterial/viral treatment. To be honest gomechanic is better choice for my car rather than others. Good car service providers in kuala lumpur.
The others have pretty much covered most of the bases. I will add one - compared to other similarly-sized cities in the West (like Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, or Berlin) traffic is very manageable. Let’s not even talk about neighboring cities like Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta, or Manila - all of which are much worse than Singapore traffic-wise. The reason this works is those $120,000 Toyota Corollas. The extremely high prices of cars (and strictly controlled numbers of Certificates of Entitlement) limit the number of cars on the road and in turn traffic does not get out of hand.
Kuala Lumpur. An expat once told me this: “,Party in Bangkok, do business in Singapore, live in KL.” Why? The best of both worlds in one city. You have Singapore at Bangkok prices minus the rigid, stressful society. Singapore’s perks found in KL. Get by with only English (Almost) a developed country Multicultural, multiethnic, multireligious Quality healthcare & education Great recreational facilities such as parks & golf courses (KLCC Park in the middle of the city) (Almost) good metro system Lesser traffic jams Better air quality An incredibly good air hub for destinations in Asia-Pacific (bonus- it’s much cheaper as well!) Live in the suburbs, where it isn’t as hectic. Bangkok's suburbs aren't impressive, & are as hectic and busy as the CBD. Family friendly- prostitution & go-go bars exist, but are hush-hush. Not in your face like Bangkok. Luxury condo living (at incredibly cheap prices). Bangkok’s perks in KL. Relatively low cost of living (newsflash- KL is almost a cheap, if not already cheaper than Bangkok now due to the Baht's strength!) Own a car & drive at affordable prices (now a Toyota Vios is even cheaper than Thailand! And the fuel & tolls are dirt cheap too!) Own a landed house or extremely large apartment unit at decent prices Have great and cheap street food Shop till you drop (mostly luxury & mid range in malls though, street shopping is still much better in Bangkok- nothing can beat Chatuchak & Ratchada Markets) Do almost anything (even sleazy ones) at cheap prices KL’s own unique perks Street food, is, available, ,24 hours,. Damn right. At 3am, you can walk out to the street to find a ,mamak ,shop, a ,Ramly burger ,or kebab, ,stall, sometimes even ,Dim Sum ,or ,Bak Kut Teh,! Go ,hiking or jungle trekking, in the multiple authentic forests and hills in the city borders. Drive 30 mins away & you can jungle trek away from the hustle & bustle of the city! Go on ,weekend getaway road trips,. Peninsular Malaysia is small enough to be reached in under 7 hours from KL. A drive to Singapore customs is under 4 hours. The Thai border is under 8. Explore most of Southeast Asia at extremely cheap prices. AirAsia's main hub is in KL International Airport, having the most extensive network around Southeast Asia. Living as a Muslim is easy. Halal food is everywhere. Mosques & Mushollas too. And not as strict, pubs & bars are everywhere too (Beer & liquor are easily available, though not the cheapest in the region). But if you eat pork, don't fret. Chinese Malaysian food almost revolves around pork, which is also very easily available. Some Western restaurants serve pork as well. If you're vegan/vegetarian, even better. There are many Indian (& a small number of Chinese eateries) which are vegetarian. Of course, no city is perfect,, and, KL has its fair share of problems, too Relatively expensive liquor & nightlife in the region (almost Singapore/Western prices) Petty crime (mostly bag snatchers & break-ins, murders/rapes are rare, not as bad as US and no gun culture) car-centric planning & traffic jams, not very walkable streets (very much like Los Angeles or Houston, but public transport is better than most of the US) large third-world migrant worker population (comparable to both Bangkok/Singapore, but this more visible in KL as they usually congregate in tourist areas like Chinatown). Food is a draw though, you can never get wrong with food in these three cities. But again, ,KL for the best of both worlds- authenticity, variety at cheap prices & at any time of the day! And for expats who decide to settle in KL, we wish you: Selamat Datang ke Kuala Lumpur! Picture credit: Keow Wee Loong
RM 19,000 will allow you to live in a lap of luxury in Kuala Lumpur. In fact I’d suggest a few things to make your money go far: Avoid living around the normal expat neighbourhoods like Mont Kiara, Hartamas or in Kuala Lumpur city centre where everything is over priced. Live in the suburbs where you can get bigger houses to rent for the price of a furnished condo in those expat zones. I suggest looking around Subang - it’s well connected with trains & highways to the city and house rents that’s still reasonable for the salary you will make. Forget renting a big car if you’re driving to work - you’ll get stuck in a jam anyways. Get yourself a Toyota or a Honda. Eat like the locals do - plenty of cheap vegetarian restaurants around the city (sorry can’t help you there) so do explore and enjoy the cuisine. Welcome to Malaysia & have a pleasant stay!
Why have the Oppo Reno and the One Plus Nord been pre-ordered by 4.5 and 3.5 times respectively in India and Europe where everyone is supposedly Anti China??? Why is it that from 1 - 31 July 2020, Of 100% smartphones sold in India- 90.7% were Chinese like Realme, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Huawei or One Plus??? This is higher than in 2019 july when 86.2% of phones were Chinese? Why is it that despite all the Anti China gaffe, Just in June 2020 - Trump Inc owned by the president signed a MOU for $ 214 Million with Shanghai for 14 Trademarks??? Why is it that despite all the Anti China gaffe - Eight US States have imported nearly $ 2.91 Billion of masks and PPE Equipment from China from 1 May 2020 to 31 Jul 2020???? Why is it that despite all the Anti China statements - the Aussies have exported 22% more Iron Ore and 15% more Thorium to China since May 2020 while they have imported nearly 41% more goods from China??? Why is it that despite all the Anti China rants - Indian Banks in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Beijing and Shanghai have borrowed $ 347 Million from Bank of China during June and July 2020 The Reason for all this is - BUSINESS IS BUSINESS The Companies are all Indian Registered Companies governed by the Indian ROC. Vivo loses nothing from the sponsorship but IPL and BCCI will lose a big chunk of cash. Besides there are 68 companies who have 60%-90% of their global manufacturing in China like Toyota or Apple or Samsung who are still sponsors. Remove all of them and you will remove 90% of your sponsors.
Malaysia is a country with first class infrastructure and a third world mentality. I guess for the mentality part, we still have a long way to go. On the other hand, our international airport is ranked 6th best in the world. (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) We also have one of the tallest buildings in the world. (The Petronas Twin Towers) We also have a lot of expensive highways. Our hotels are pretty sweet. (Shangri-La Hotel) Although public transport here is pretty shit, everyone prefers to drive anyway. Malaysians love branded cars, you can see a lot of Toyotas,BMWs and Mercedes on the road here. As for education, we are taught two to three languages (English, Malay, Mandarin , Tamil or Bahasa Jawi). University Malaya is a wonderful university. We also have a lot of private colleges that offer Cambridge A levels and other undergraduate courses which our students often are accepted into the top universities in the world such as Cambridge, Imperial and London School of Economics.
10.5 LPA is $15K USD a year. 13500 RM (I assume that is per month) is $40K USD a year. The cost of living in Malaysia is not three times more expensive than India. For reference, according to Numbeo (,Cost of Living Comparison Between,) Kuala Lumpur is 57% more expensive than Bangalore. The biggest cost items are going to be cars and housing. Cars cost almost the same (Toyota Corolla) to 3X more (VW Golf) - this is an artifact of Malaysia’s car taxation scheme. Rentals are 60–130% more expensive in KL. So let’s figure the rent is double. So: if we assume KL is twice as expensive as Bangalore, then a compensation package that is double in USD terms would be break-even. Since 13500 RM is 2.67X higher in USD terms, then it is worth considering the move.

Definitely not true. You need to compare the biggest and 2nd biggest cities in both Jakarta vs Kuala Lumpur and Surabaya vs Penang. Lets us just focus on the CBD of both Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur. Jakarta has a lot of modern buildings, very clean street, very big and luxury malls in comparison to Kuala Lumpur. The streets of Jakarta CBD are filled with newer model cars and luxury cars, compare to KL and the taxi also show a Very Big Differences, in term of comfort, cleaness and attitude. There are two types of taxi in Jakarta, being a luxury taxi (using Mercedes Benz, Toyota Alphard and Camry), whereas the normal taxi is Toyota Vios. There is also train from Jakarta airport to downtown and inside Jakarta, also have the build MTR within Jakarta Area. There are many International school in Jakarta, either American, Australian, Japanese, Indian etc among with other national plus school and standard schools. For shopping and food, easily Jakarta can win over KL. But in general, KL is a safer city compare to Jakarta, as the number of religious extremist in Indonesia is much more greater than in Malaysia. So eventhough Jakarta is much nicer city than KL, but people still need to be fully alert when in the city, as something bad can happen anytime, anywhere, unexpectedly. For comparison of Surabaya and Penang, again Surabaya easily win over Penang with its modern cbd and building, shopping malls, number of international flights, university etc. But Penang win over Surabaya for the medical treatment or hospitals and food variaties etc, so for the comparison of the 2nd biggest city, maybe Surabaya and Penang at the same similar level. I have been visiting those 4 cities so many times in the last 10 years, so the above points based on my own experiences.
I've used Uber quite a bit around Bukit Bintang and really liked it. Prices are very reasonable, cars are new and clean (typically Toyota Camry's) and I don't need to haggle with the driver like in the red budget taxis. A tiny problem is that some of the drivers don't seem to be able to locate the pick-up address very well (whether the problem is their geographic knowledge or the Uber app I don't know), and since I'm signed up for Uber with a Singapore phone number and use my Malaysian Maxis SIM card in Malaysia he can't call me. But apart from that it's great.
