The best tune for under 1000 USD for a BMW 335i is an ots (over the shelf) tune. The biggest 2 out there are MHD or Bootmod 3. Me personally I favor MHD, as they specialize in BMW’s and they work together with XHP, a company that offers a transmission tune for the E and F series.
Cheapest way MHD xHP Flashtool - xHP Flashtool, (If automatic) If automatic Single Turbo Upgrade, I like the SpeedTech ,BMW N54, (Auto cannot take torque from upgraded twin turbos) If manual transmission, ,TD04R STAGE 3 TURBO SET, is an awesome option. Downpipe n54 Chargepipe DCI Intercooler In tank fuel pump upgrade ,BMW STAGE 2 LPFP UPGRADE You should be at about $4,000- $10,000 total cost and at 600–700hp. I’ve done everything but the turbo kit and I’ve got just shy of 500hp on my 335i. The 335i N54 is one of the easiest and cheapest cars to get to 600 hp and it stays fairly reliable as long as you still do all required maintence.
Since I like being able to turn, and I like being different, I’m not going to suggest an small block Chevy build. I would also point out that the other answers here do what a lot of build articles do, which is ignore all the ancillary parts. There’s no mention of upgraded fuel pumps or injectors, things like limited slip differentials, upgraded axles, and the like. ALL of those things and more are needed to be able to handle the power, especially if you’re going to launch in the quarter mile. Any N54 equipped BMW with 6AT - 2007–2010 335i is the most common: $10,000 Android device, MHD Tuner, eTune from Wedge Performance, and xHP Transmission tuner: $1,000 DocRace top-mount GTW3476R single turbo kit: $5,100 AD Engineering Front Mount Intercooler: $1,200 AD Engineering Port Injection Kit (with injectors): $1,000 Split Second Additional Injector Controller: $349 CSF Racing Radiator: $529 Motiv Ethanol Content Sensor, Flex Fuel Box, and Line Upgrade: $500 The Driveshaft Shop Rear Axle upgrade: $1,000 Fuel-It Stage 3 LPFP Upgrade (Dual Walbro 450 pumps): $1200 That kit with that turbo is capable of 850whp, but I’d strongly suggest you tune down to 600–650whp. The stock internals of the N54 motor are strong, but 800+hp will probably cause you to pop a rod at some point unless you invest in a built block. I’m leaving off things like slicks, lightweight wheels, brake and suspension upgrades, and so on. I’m sure that a full build of a car like that wouldn’t be the roughly $20,000 listed here - there’s probably another $5–10,000 in various components, depending on what kind of car you’re trying to build.
