Why is it that people don't accept the new age of rap? (Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty, Famous Dex)?
Because it pushes naivety as a style. They don’t pretend to be good rappers, and yet they are still successful. That’s why they’re not accepted. The new rappers have pushed their style rather than their skill. Their style, is mumbling and lyrically cartoonish. For example, Lil’ Uzi Vert on Travis Scott’s “Ra Ra” track: “Rari so fast like I’m in a Lam”. One of the most redundant lyrics I’ve ever heard. Saying a Ferrari is so fast it’s like he’s in a Lamborghini. This comparison of two things in the same category is hardly going to blow minds. To many people, it’s like they’re wasting people’s time, constantly name dropping brands and rap symbols and not even attempting to put them into smart lyrical structures. The equivalent of emoji rapping.
How do you write rap lyrics?
Ahhh, good question. Choose a topic, and stay on topic. Topics can be broad, that is fine. But don't go from talking about how drugs are destroying your community, to talking about how much money you have in your Lamborghini. Use internal rhyme schemes Use metaphors, similes, alliteration and more wordplay. Don’t reuse words too much, use synonyms. Tell a story. Have a theme. Like a moral or a lesson someone can learn. (Look. This one is optional. As long as you have clever lyrics, your theme doesnt have to be very deep.) Every once in a while, talk about your beliefs. Touch on controversial subjects every so often. This is the last, and possible most important one; Be yourself. Don't try to mimic the wordplay or rhyme schemes or common themes of other rappers. It depends on what you’re trying to achieve. If you’re looking for your tracks to be played in the clubs, mumbling shit about drugs and guns is the way to go. However if you want to build a legacy as a great hip hop artist then definitely throw in some more technical vocab. Though be careful that you don’t use advanced vocab purely for the sake of it. For example on one end you have Migos, who seem to never use a word more complicated than “Lamborghini” A midway example would of course be Eminem, who uses complex words where necessary, but only for the task of getting his message across. She is a really good main vocal. Then we have jeongyeon who is stability queen. She has potential to be main vocal easily. Then we have Nayeon , well I personally think that she deserves her lines I know alot of onces will attack me but trust me she has one of the best voices in kpop. It's really bright and stable. She is pretty much main vocal in twice. So basically twice have three main vocal matrial. And others are not that good but Mina , chaeyoung and Sana can easily pass as lead vocal in any other group tho they are just sub-vocalists. If you don't believe then go and watch Cry for me award Show performance without jeongyeon when Sana sang jeongyeon's lines. And chaeyoung is the one who covers other members line usually if they are not present. Except Tzuyu, Momo and dahyun everyone is good. 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗸 : Blackpink has Rosè who has really sweet voice. She has problems in singing live because of her stability being not so good but singing is not only about being stable. Than we have jennie I know a lot of blinks think jisoo is second best but technique wise jennie is better if you don't know then go to youtube and watch Professional singer reacts to blackpink. They have complimented Jennie and rosè alot and that's why Jennie and rosè usually gets difficult parts of songs tho jennie's voice can sometimes seems as shouty cause she has a rapping voice but still her technique is good. Then they have jisoo who sounds exactly same on stage I must say from whatever I have seen she is really a stable singer but as I said singing is not just about stability. Who are the best and worst rappers out of RM, Jennie, Lisa, and Chaeyoung?
First place: RM Namjoon is an extraordinary rapper, especially in kpop. He writes his own raps/lyrics, and he’s got a good flow and awesome voice to listen to. He can sound tough and aggressive and also soothing and nice. Definitely a great rapper. Second place: Chaeyoung Chaeyoung is also a good rapper. She doesn’t get to shine as much because of Twice’s “color-pop” style, but definitely look up some of her performances on Sixteen. Everyone focuses on that “pink lamborghini” from Momo (Momo is a good rapper too), but her rap is awesome there. She also writes a lot of lyrics for Twice and I love her singing voice. Let Chaeyoung rap, JYP!! Third: Lisa Lisa is a good enough rapper. She’s pretty consistent from studio to stage in sound, and her flow is there, I just don’t like the way her voice sounds very much? Just a personal opinion, I’m not trying to attack her. She’s a very good dancer, probably one of the best ones in kpop right now. I hope YG treats her and the others better in the future. Last place: Jennie Jennie is not a good rapper. She sounds good on recorded songs, but she’s not good live. I don’t know if she just doesn’t have any stamina for their horribly difficult choreo, but whenever I hear her rap or even sing live, she sounds like she’s just yelling the words. When she tries, she’s a good dancer. She seems nice enough and she’s pretty. Just a bad rapper. It’s not her fault YG tried to make Blackpink the next 2NE1.

Even though they haven’t done any producing but this is already a lot for a Girl Group from a Big Company since not many top-tier girl groups have had creativity input in their early years. BLACKPINK has recently been involved in Songwriting and Production although it has been speculated that Jennie has participated in songwriting with “Solo” and “Stay” and Jisoo writing the Korean Lyrics for her Cover of the song “Clarity”. There has been no direct confirmation by Jennie or Jisoo herself or anyone else involved with the songs regarding Jennie and Jisoo’s Creative input into these songs. During their American Promotions in the Spring of 2019, the members of BLACKPINK were asked by Zach Sang regarding their song-writing process. Many Fans regarded this interview as one of the most awkward moments of the group as the members were left with deadly silence and awkwardness after the question was asked. For the single “Lovesick Girls”, Jennie and Jisoo made their songwriting debut with Jennie on the credits for both songwriting and composing. - Rap Line: TWICE Rap Line: Momo, Dahyun, Chae-young BLACKPINK Rap Line: Jennie and Lisa Momo rapped during her Sixteen Days in which she rapped during a cover of “The Way You Love Me” and it became famous among the Group’s Fans with the inside Joke of “Pink Lamborghini”. Jokes Aside, Momo’s Rap was not bad in my opinion, and quite interesting how she managed to rap it in English. Dahyun is regarded as the 2nd best rapper in the group after Chaeyoung and some of her rap lines such as her line in the song “Likey” have been regarded as Iconic by Fans. She has a unique rapping voice as she is a quite soft rapper. Dahyun has not had as much exposure and opportunities as Chaeyoung. But Dahyun had not been trained to be a Rapper and there is speculation that She raps because she is better at rapping than she is as vocals. Chaeyoung is the Main Rapper of the Group and has a nice flow and technical skills in Rapping. Chaeyoung has written some of her bars and has showcased her talent in rapping not only through TWICE’s songs but also through cover songs. She has rapped in Special Stages such as her iconic performance at the JYP Nation Joined Performance in KBS Gayo Daechukje. Fans even state that Chaeyoung can go to Unpretty Rapstar and survive a few rounds there. Jennie has originally trained to be a Rapper with Vocals and Dance on the side, As a Trainee there was a video clip of her Rapping in English. It is revealed that Jennie originally auditioned with vocals and wanted to train in the Vocal Department but the Management felt like she should Train in rapping due to her English Language Skills. Jennie has been praised by Fans and the Public for her Raps, Especially her iconic rap line in the song DDU-DU-DDU-DU as well as other raps in some of BLACKPINK’s earlier Releases. Lisa is not as good as a Rapper that Jennie is since Lisa is mainly focused in the Dance Department but Trained in Rapping. Lisa has Iconic Lines such as her line in the Song “Playing With Fire”, but has not had as many opportunities as Jennie in terms of showcasing her Rapping. Lisa has been praised for her unique voice and swag as well as being a charismatic rapper. TWICE’s Rapping Game is strong but not as strong at BLACKPINK’s Rapping Game, Jennie and Lisa have made a reputation for themselves within the K-pop circle for being strong rappers. Though there only have been 21 official BLACKPINK songs and the members themselves have not released solo mixtapes, Jennie and Lisa’s rapping have yet to have been on their full display. - Vocal Line: TWICE: Everyone Participates in Singing at some point BLACK PINK: Everyone Participates in Singing at some point BLACKPINK’s Main Vocalist Rosie has a nice whistle and high notes, but her technique has been criticized as some say she won’t be able to sing in the future and is wrecking her vocal cords because of the straining. Jisoo has a deeper singing voice compared to the other members and has displayed her talents in cover songs such as “Clarity” and some of her Japanese cover songs, but she is the most stable in the group. Jennie has a nice singing voice which is quite enjoyable but has a limited range and sometimes if she goes higher than her comfortable range, she starts straining as seen in the Live performance of “As If It’s Your Last” where she has to sing in the 5th octave. Lisa is the underrated vocal of the group, she does not get to sing as much as everyone else and has not had the opportunities to really display her vocals. Main Vocalist of TWICE, Jihyo has a deeper voice and can reach those high notes and at the same time is not very nasal and has an octave of supported range, but at the same time, she does not really have a head-voice. TWICE, Nayeon has stable vocals, Jeongyeon has the Traditional Girl Group Voice, Momo is Stable, Sana is Higher pitched and has the J-pop girl group voice, Jihyo’s Normal Singing is in the middle of the group’s High to lone tones but she can really hit those hit and long notes, Mina is really stable and like Sana she has the J-pop Voice and she can hit the high notes, Dahyun is better as a rapper but her voice is good, Chaeyoung has this nice voice and she is able to sing low and high and in a beautiful way, Tzuyu has one of the lowest voice but unique. But Overall I feel like TWICE is more unique in Vocals (Just in my perspective). Visuals don’t count since beauty is something that you can’t compare. - Dance: BLACKPINK is technically easier since I have tried it myself and I found it easier compared to the choreography of TWICE but Kill This Love had pretty amazing choreography. BLACKPINK’s Choreography has parts where each member stands out in their own ways as well as some iconic moves such as the Guns in DDU-DU-DDU-DU. It is a disadvantage that BLACKPINK has less than twice the members of TWICE, and they can’t do much that TWICE Can. I hope for an upcoming dance break in BLACKPINK’s Choreography. - TWICE has been criticized in their earlier days for having easy choreography but their game has stepped up quite a bit in their recent choreographies. TWICE Does have iconic dance moves such as the viral Cheer Up dance and the TT Finger sign. Dance the Night Away is one of the hardest of their choreography and I’ll be honest with you, it’s hard. TWICE is in-sync and it’s something the group excels at. - I don’t think you can compare full group choreography to the front-line dance members, so Main dancer competition here we go. TWICE MAIN DANCER: MOMO BLACKPINK MAIN DANCER: LISA We have two of the best dancers in the circle and there is constant debate over which one is better than the other. We have Lisa, the Main Dancer who has been dancing since a young age, was involved in Dancing performances as well as being in a Dancer Crew with GOT7’s BamBam pre-debut in Thailand. Lisa made a name for herself for her Swalla Dance cover which she performed during the tour as well as dancing performances she uploads on her YouTube Channel (You can go check those out). She has other Viral Dance Performances such as the Thai Dance she did on Knowing Brothers which racked up over 500,000 likes on YouTube. Momo auditioned for Dance back in Japan with her older sister (who is also a dancer) but only Momo made the cut to Korea. Momo has iconic dance performances such as her Hit The Stage Performance and her Dance Break in the song Ooh-Aah. She has been involved in cover stages such as covering the Taemin song “Move” with some of her fellow members as well as participating in Gayo Stages. During Momo’s dancing days in Japan, She was involved in Dance Crews. Lisa has more solo opportunities to showcase her dancing talent as she has her own YouTube Channel as well as Dancing Solos in her concerts and her recent mentoring on Youth With You. Momo does not have the solo opportunities that Lisa has but she gets dance breaks in their songs but does more stages than Lisa. At the same time, they are two dancers with different styles, Lisa with a hip-hop style and Momo with a more classic modern style. Hip-Hop Dance requires a lot of strength and technique and some say it’s harder than Classic Modern. Momo is a more versatile dancer than Lisa, but Lisa at the same time has smooth and natural moves. In the Freestyle category, Momo is better than Lisa as we have seen, She managed to pull off quite a freestyle for Baby Shark. She has also done freestyles to songs such as “Worth It” “Taki Taki” and “Havana”. Lisa, on the other hand, does not have as many opportunities as Momo does to do a Freestyle. She has freestyle to “Formation” “Lean On” but other than the Freestyles on Weekly Idol, We have not seen more from her. Momo has done some of her own choreography and routines herself where are the majority of Solo dances we have seen from Lisa have been choreographed by other dancers and choreographers. We would not get a conclusion unless they go head to head in different dance categories and we also have yet to see the full potential in both of them. Momo wins the Freestyle and she also can do her own choreography but Lisa has better technique and is more fluid as a dancer compared to Momo. Lisa wins for the solo dancing, but Twice as a whole group beats BLACKPINK. - Stage Presence: [In this case, I will bring some iconic stages] BLACKPINK - COACHELLA 2019 [APRIL 2019] This is regarding as one of BLACKPINK’s most iconic stages of their career. The performance featured the live festival atmosphere and crowd with a live band. Their Coachella performance was more minimal compared to their stages back in Korea with only the members, a few backup dancers, a live band, and the lights. Despite being more toned down compared to their stages in Korea, BLACKPINK served talent and stage presence. - TWICE - MAMA IN JAPAN 2018 [DECEMBER 2018] TWICE’s performance at MAMA Japan 2018 has been regarded as one of their best by fans. The concept of the performance based-off on the box-office hit “The Greatest Showman”, From an opening dance break to costume-changes. TWICE performed Yes or Yes + What Is Love? + Dance The Night Away, the girls didn't miss a beat in dance and served talent throughout the entire 10-minute performance. - Conclusion: From personal preference, I prefer TWICE is talent over BLACKPINK but both groups deserve their hard-earned success, so I wouldn't say who deserved their success more.
