Craigslist, look for Ford Rangers, Mazda B2200's, and other small pickups, they usually run pretty well and you can get them for under $1k many times.
A few replies worth their weight (RockAuto.com, and salvage yards). Check also to see which alternates match. An example, Mazda B2200 pickup trucks matched a lot of parts with Ford Ranger. Find out if the mount you need matches specs for anything else out there. A lot of times, a less expensive part can be had by buying one that is Chevrolet intead of GMC or Pontiac, even though they all are manufactured by the same plants in Mexico and China.
A mid 80's mazda B2200. Small , easy on gas reliable and fun to drive. What more could a man want?
I was 25 when I bought my first new car. It was a Plymouth Reliant K. It had been the Motor Trend Car of the year, in 1981. Mine was a 1985. That car was an absolute a piece of junk. I was extremely disappointed in my first ever new car. I believe it cost me around $8500 at the time. It broke down all the time and was always at the shop getting fixed. After 2 years, I traded it for my 2nd new vehicle; a 1987, Mazda B2200 pickup. That was my first Japanese vehicle. It was a great little truck. I’ve stayed with Japanese models since, although my wife has bought some American and European cars. I personally feel that Japanese cars/trucks have served me well.
Yes. The year was 1985. I bought a Plymouth Reliant K car. I bought it because it was previously the Motor Trend car of the year in 83 or 84. I had worked with a couple people who had them and loved theirs. I was influenced by my Dad to buy American. I believed they were superior to Japanese cars. I had some family members who were strong union guys and they too influenced me. Anyway at the time, I was thrilled. It was my first new car. I was so excited. That lasted for maybe a month, the it started giving me trouble. Honestly, I don’t recall what the exact issues were. I just know it would not always start. It would break down regularly. It was under warranty, but I had to keep bringing it back to the dealership. I kept it for 2 years, continuously bringing it back to the dealership. I sold it and lost a good amount on it, but I was so happy to get rid of that POS. I bought a new Japanese made Mazda B2200 pickup after that. I never bought an American car again. I believe Americans make much better cars today, but I will stick with my Japanese brands. I’ve owned most Japanese brands, including Honda, Toyota, Mazda, Nissan, and Subaru. They all made very good vehicles. I’ve soured on Nissan since then, but that’s another story.
I had a Subaru in the early 90’s. It was a ‘92 Subaru Loyale. It was an okay car. I believe I bought it in ‘93. I bought it because I had my second kid and needed a vehicle to replace my small Mazda B2200 pickup truck. At the time it had more options than other cars in its class. It ran well for 4–5 years, then the clutch started to go. The oil would also get foamy. It was a bit odd. I took good care of it with regular fluid changes. It served it’s purpose. I bought an older beater Subaru a few years after that one. That was a piece of junk which needed a new engine. But I only paid $800 for that one, so I got what I paid for. I think Subaru’s are not bad cars, but they do not compare to Toyota or Honda. It’s a 2nd tier Japanese brand, like Mazda is. Decent, but not great.
Well, yes and no. Pick-up trucks come in half-ton, yes. They also come in lighter duty than half-ton (think Chevy Colorado, Mazda B2200) as well as much heavier duty: heavy half-ton, 3/4 ton, etc. Most trucks that show 2500 in their model number, are 3/4 ton rigs. Generally the 150/1500 series (F150, Silverado 1500 etc) are 1/2 ton trucks. Other manufacturers have similar means to designate.
I remember back in high school, my dad bought a new pickup truck, a Mazda B2200. Being interested in all things audio that time, the first thing I checked was the sound system that came with it. It sounded awful. So I looked for the speakers. Where are they? Finally, I found them, screwed to the body panel just beside the front seats, each rated at a very powerful 7 watts. 7 watts!! And the manual referred to them as loudspeakers, even putting in a warning that playing it too loud can damage your ears! Turns out, any speaker, by definition, no matter how tiny, is called a loudspeaker, even if it is anything but loud. So yes, again by definition, a soundbar is a loudspeaker. I'm sure what you are asking is whether it is quite loud. Yes, most soundbars are loud. They have to be, so they can be a big step up over the built-in speakers of the TV. Some even come with a subwoofer. Multiple channels in a home theater setup are nice, but a sound bar and a sub is sometimes more than enough. It's cheap, easy to connect, and sounds 90 percent as good.
None of the following are luxury cars, but here’s my experience: 1993 Mazda B2200:, Plain red little truck that I’ve had since new. It’s my “wheelbarrow with windshield wipers”. Hard to believe it’s not officially an antique now. Reactions to this truck vary. Some look at it like it’s some kind of heap of junk because it’s so small and obviously old. Others point and say “Hey, I love those things! Want to sell it?” 2001 Toyota 4Runner:, Served time as the family hauler, still looks good, runs well, has always been pathetically slow. If (,if,) someone notices it, they usually smile and say “Hey, nice 4Runner! Want to sell it?” Seems like if someone has any feelings at all about it, they view it as a respectable car. 2002 Honda S2000:, Everybody seems to like this car. Boys on bikes or skateboards see it coming, and they’ll point and look at it wide-eyed. As I pass, one or more of them will yell “Nice car!”. That sort of reaction is what it gets the most from people of all ages. Occasionally someone will scowl at me in it, usually someone old who looks angry about something else. People have told me they think I shouldn’t have spent so much money on a sports car. When I tell them that I probably paid less than half of what they paid for their ,normal, car, they’re surprised. So my guess is that the scowlers are disgusted at my profligate spending. 2014 WRX hatchback:, Seems to confuse people. Some immediately know what it is, and I get a thumbs-up from them (especially others WRX drivers). Others look at it and see the “Subaru” badge on something with swollen fenders with scoops and stuff all over it (it’s stock) and can’t figure out what the point of it is. They seem further confused when I step out of it. “What is a guy like that doing driving a car like that?” People seem to get out of your way on the highway in that car for some reason. Occasionally someone in a big diesel pickup with loud pipes will attempt a short race. If I participate, I usually win. Fun car. 2018 Subaru Outback:, If I ever rob a bank, I’m going to use an Outback as a getaway car. I bet I would be able to pull slowly away from the crime scene and right past a cop. The cop would look at me and say “you need to get out of here, there was a bank robbery. Move along!” If my wife drives it to meet me somewhere, I have to really pay attention or ,I, fail to notice it. It’s the most anonymous car ever. No one reacts to this car.
The B-series and more precisely, according to me, that would be the ’89 B2600i or the B2200 pick-up truck.
