Holding the engine in place and absorbing most of the engines vibration are engine mounts.

One of the very prevalent questions I get all the time on car maintenance, is about engine oils.
Sometimes the engine head may have been replaced. Sometimes the entire engine has been swapped.

@ggreeneyes1975 @colonelBOB2020 So is the oil leak in the transmission or engine side?..if it's an older model you might get away with an additive if the leak is not that bad.
I forgot how much I love the sound of the jet engine as the airplane takes off. 😍
@MarkKL29 It might be worth chucking some super unleaded through it or engine cleaner fuel additive. I got some for my Landrover discovery. It's was a diesel, but the stuff made a big difference.

Use the oil that is recommended, and change it as recommended, and there will be no sludge. I installed new piston rings in my Chevrolet Cavalier at 220,000 miles some years ago, and there was NO sludge in the engine ANYWHERE. If you buy an older car, NEVER use an engine flush or sludge remover. Just change the oil. Use injector cleaner if it makes you feel better, but it's probably not needed.
None. Really. If there were any engine or oil additives needed for your engine then the car manufacturer would recommend them. For instance, some Euro car makers often recommend using Chevron or Texaco gasoline. Why? Because both Chevron and Texaco gasoline is blended with Techron. Techron, developed by Chevron, over the long term has been proven to keep fuel injectors and upper intake systems cleaner than other fuel detergents. Chevron owns Texaco hence the availability of Techron in Texaco fuels. The only oil additive I have ever used was Marvel Mystery Oil. I used it on my ’98 GMC pickup when it developed a slight lifter “tick”. And this on a truck I regularly changed the oil on every 4,000 miles. I changed the oil, added the quart of MMO in lieu of 1 quart of synthetic 10w30 , and the lifter “tick” went away and hasn’t come back. I recently changed the main rod bearings on the engine in this truck. I had to drop the oil pan and I got to see what amount of sludge had built up in the bottom of the pan after 128,000 miles. The answer? Not much at all. I have a 2011 Subaru Forester and use the 0W20 oil and an OEM Subie “black” oil filter. The black filters are made in Japan by a quality filter manufacturer as opposed to the “blue” Subie filter which is made by Fram under contract for Subaru North America. Fram is probably the worst oil filter you can buy for your car. I wouldn’t buy a Fram filter for my non-Subie vehicles so I’m certainly not going to buy one for my Foz. But I digress. All you need to do is use quality synthetic oil as recommended by Subaru and use a quality oil filter. There is not secret elixir to add to the crankcase that’s gonna make your engine last longer or run better. In fact many of these “snake oils” can do more harm than good to your engine. For fuel, the best thing you can do is use top tier gasoline. Top Tier gasoline has the proper additives in proper and effective amounts in all the grades they sell to keep your fuel injectors and intake system clean. Look up top tier gasoline and you can read all about it and find what retailers sell top tier gasoline.
Yes flush the tranny, even if it hasn't been done but have it done by a professional, not a high school part-timer… I'm sorry Jiffy Lube and Grease Monkey but I have cleaned up way too many messes you have caused in the form of damaged components… Do not add Lucas. Sorry, not sorry. I haven't seen good come of it and I have been in more engines than I can remember. I recommend adding a good detergent like Lubro-Moly Jectron or BG44k to a full tank at the oil change interval. It helps to keep the injectors, valves, and piston crowns clean. Beyond that, use a quality oil with a quality filter. My personal opinion is to avoid Fram or other bargain-basement filters. Use a quality filter, such as Wix, Purolator PureONE, Napa Gold, Delco… Preventative maintenance will go a long way with any car. Your Solara has a good powertrain and drivetrain, just take care of it and it will take good care of you. Flush your tranny every 50k, 75k if you run synthetic. Ive flushed transmissions with 150k with no ill effect so long as the fluid is only slightly burned. If the fluid is badly burned, don't flush it- save the money for a new tranny.
NO!!! Oil companies and the major chemical companies spend billions of dollars on research and development. They do field tests that carry on for years with hundreds of cars in the sample—- Yes! Many yellow cabs are contracted to those tests! Then some fly by night company claims that they know better than the big boys and start adding unknown poisons into the oil, do a couple of meaningless tests and charge a fortune for some racing driver to do an advert. I used to sell raw materials to some of these companies and knew some of their recipes. One was simply an oil thickener, another contained dangerous levels of zinc, another was a corrosive chlorine EP additive. One company added Teflon, this can break down to produce hydrofluoric acid under some conditions found in an engine. I would never put any of these things into my engine.
Microsoft has corporate housings in Redmond, Bellevue, and Seattle. As far as I know, new hires csn live in them for a few months up to a few years. You can ask your recruiter and they should know what to do. Also, with a salary as a Microsoft engineer you will be able to afford an apartment/studio.
