Review Q&A bmw jb4

If I were to upgrade the exhaust on my 335xi should I go with Dinan or an M3 exhaust?

Assuming this is a E9x question i.e. you have E90/91/92/93 BMW Why do you want to “upgrade” it? I assume more noise (since the dual 2,5″ oem system of a n54 (335 up until 2009/2010) is good for like 3x the oem power of the engine. The M3 system won’t fit since it is for a v8 engine and you a have turbo inline6. Dinan is over priced, but might provide some warranty other aftermarket companies won’t provide. But I would recommend you to just change your downpipes, more sound AND more power is made available by this. If you have a newer 335ix with the n55 engine, you still have similar options but the actual gains from changing parts are not as dramatic as for the older engine. I would recommend to go to ,burgertuning.com, and look at parts recommended for your car. You will need to upgrade the ECU in one way or the other (and discussions for which way is best is probably never ending). But you can choose a piggyback ECU module like the JB4 from Burger Motorsport OR a Cobb Accessport flash device from ,COBB Tuning - Home page,. I tried both and the JB4 gives some fun upgrade paths with methanol injection etc at a nice price point. The Cobb flash is probably giving you a smoother more oem like engine and simpler install. My 335i had several versions of the JB piggybacks as well as a upgraded intercooler, dual-cone air filters, downpipes and methanol injection. It was stupid fast, and power was always enough to loose the rear in every turn. My 997.1 turbo Porsche had new exhaust, upgraded injectors for full e85 and was running custom ECU firmware form Cobb using their access port odb2 flash handheld. It all comes down to what you want, sites like ,http://bimmerboost.com, will contain all the information you need, but make sure to chose a tuner solution that comes with support, with Cobb and Burger are providing amazing customer support I think that is the most important part of any choice when one start playing with modern car engines…

What is the best way to tuning a BMW 320i F30 (nN48 engine)?

Why would you even start tuning this engine? like the other answer states, go for a 335 or even better a 340i. But if you really want some tunign, I would go for a flash only (stage 1) and save the money towards a car with better tuning potential. The 340i has the b58 engine, which is a really great engine to make power with. I would not even consider a real M car with this engine. Don’t go for that Burger tuning box (JB4) though. It is great as a boost controller for your turbo, but I would use a real back end flash for my car, like Bootmod 3 or MHD. The car will be running smoother and you will get more power out of it.

Should I tune a 2017 BMW F30 320i? It is still under a 5-year warranty from a BMW authorized dealer.

To be fair, there’s not much aftermarket for the N20 motor. There are a number of tuners available, but few pieces of hardware. You could probably upgrade the turbo yourself, and there is at least one commercially available downpipe (for off-road use only!), but you could pick up 50hp or so with a tune and downpipe. Another 50hp from a larger turbo, but you’re going to be limited to the stock spark and fuel capabilities. No one is developing those parts for the N20 because the N5x is the dominant market force currently and the B58 is poised to take over; the same way all the parts developed for the 4G63 powered DSMs but no one really every did anything for the non-factory turbo cars. If you really want to make power, sell the car and buy something with a better motor. If you just want a little extra pep, sure, get a Burger Motorsports JuiceBox4 (JB4) and a downpipe and be done with it.

How much power can you get out of a complete stock 2009 BMW 335i E92 engine with just a tune?

Depends on what type of tune it is. The most popular choices are the Cobb Accessport, Burger Motorsports JB4, MHD on androids, and finally a custom tune. They usually make around 20–40 whp depending on the health of your engine but for a stage 1 without any other modifications, that is what you normally will normally see.

What is the best engine tune under $1000 for a BMW 335i with N55 engine?

Try Burger Motorsports. I’ve read good things about their JB4 tune, although it’s illegal for them to sell me a tune in the great socialist state of California where I reside. BMW N55 Twin Turbo Performance Upgrades If you want to keep your car’s warranty, ,BMW Parts and Accessories, sells the factory BMW tune for $995, but you have to take it to a BMW shop to get it dialed in. See here: getBMWparts.com - Exceptional Pricing The BMW factory tune makes less HP/TQ, but it does preserve your factory warranty. If that’s not an issue, I’d go for something like the JB4.

How does the BMW M3 compare to the 335?

Personally I’m driving F30 335i M Performance Edition, and also owned a E92 335i M Sport. If you are talking about E9X 335 AND m3, I would say 335i is way better on the streets. Because 335’s N54 and N55 turbocharge engine makes 335 is faster than V8 NA E9X M3. But if you put these 2 cars on the track, M3 has better handling, suspension and V8 NA makes M3 has better response after 80MPH. If you are talking about F30 335i vs F80 M3, M3 is all around better than 335i honestly. F80 M3 has S55 engine, it’s basically upgrade version of N55, same 3.0L, same L6, same turbo charge, but S55 has one more smaller turbo. Plus M always has better chassis and suspension. But 335i still has a lot of potential, catless down pipe+JB4 tuner+intake+intercooler cost you about few grands but it’s already make you feel like totally different car. because the price differences, 335i still has market, but just not like E9X 335i that popular.

Why is the BMW M3 a bad purchase?

Why would a M3 be a bad purchase at all? Maintenance? if thats your excuse, you dont need to drive anything else than a new leased honda/toyota. Now back to the question, it all depends on the budget you have, chassis your looking to pick up, your driving style, & daily or garage queen.M3 is classy, fast, and got the right curves to match. e36 or e46 models are not out of reach for most, they do have issues but also fairly reliable. Parts and maintenance are not as bad as some try to make it seem & most repairs are simple enough. However im sure if your looking into a M3 not a civic or a subbi for a reason so maintenance is not a breaker. e90/2/3 is a bit more on the price but well worth it if you want an M3, if not than 335i might be a hell of an option especially if picking up an Mtek/Msport paired with JB4 its no where near the feel of a M3 but properly tuned will def be faster. If you looking for f30/f80 i wont go that far as i never driven or dealt with one, just like any they have their ups and downs but none the less a solid beautiful piece of art but not as much of pure driving experience or that real bmw feel from my personal opinion based on comments made by owners of them. Yet again its said e46 was the last to provide it, aside from the new M2 or M5. Non the less which ever you choose, you wont be disappointed, just make sure to choose one that fits your needs.
