Review Q&A honda civic aesthetic

How did the Honda Civic suddenly become so stylish? For decades they were known as reliable but not aesthetically noteworthy. But in the last few years, every time I wonder “Wow! What’s that car?” it turns out to be a Civic.

Because Honda focused on style in recent years. Let’s face it, although Civic has always been a damn good car, it was a bit boring looking. It did not really have any flair to it. I agree with you, the newer Civics are head turners. I like them very much. I prefer a larger car, but if I were in the market fo a compact, I’d surely consider a Honda Civic. They have a great reputation and now great style. I had a 1997 Civic years ago and it was a great little car. It never let me down. Honda makes awesome cars!

Unfortunately, I made the decision of getting an 11th gen manual Toyota Corolla sport over the 9th gen Honda Civic Si. I can’t trade anytime soon, but what are the overall good things I got from the Corolla mechanically and aesthetically?

You won’t have to deal with car guys constantly commenting on your cool Si, would be a real hassle at the gas station. The Corolla will depreciate much quicker than the Si, so you won’t have to haggle over trade-in value at a dealership…you’ll just pay for practically the entire new car. Much more ,conveni, ent. No need to bother washing a Corolla. It looks the same dirty or clean. Since Corollas are slow and don’t have VTEC, you will have no reason to wring out the gears or drive spiritedly, so fuel economy should be great! Miles per gallon > smiles per gallon

Why were houses, package designs, boxes, cars etc. more intricate and beautiful in the 19th/early 20th century compared to today? Are there economic reasons or is it just a change in aesthetics or preference for more minimalism/functionality?

The question contains a wide variety of topics and a subjective valuation of beauty. Is this home More beautiful than this home? We'll say it is, since that is the question. Changes in architecture have been a result of both technological changes and evolving philosophy of design. Years ago, we technically couldn't build the bottom house, even if we had wanted to (interestingly, we can't easily build the old buildings now either, do to loss of technology and skills). Mass production and efficiency lend themselves to simplified forms. Modern design thinking has many iterations, but one of the tenets has been to distill things down to their essence, removing ornamentation and deception. Personally, I think there have been both home runs of modern design, that are beautiful and functional, and total duds, that are just awful buildings. The primary reason for the evolution in housing design has been economic motivation. The cost of highly skilled plaster workers and carpenters to create hand crafted details makes historic designs untenable for modern designs. Most people have opted to trade ornamentation for having a larger and more functional home. For packaging, the primary motivation has almost certainly been economics. Producing simpler, lighter packaging saves the producer money and is also wonderful for the environment. Reducing the amount of material for packaging, reduces your shipping costs by reducing the weight and volume of material that needs to be shipped for a given amount of product. There is also savings on the waste collection end, as the more efficient packaging is lighter to ship away when the packaging becomes garbage. This means lighter packaging has a clear advantage in terms of life cycle costs. Cars are similar. The very earliest cars were one offs, and bear little resemblance to modern cars. If we skip ahead a bit and look at cars from the 1950s, with big tail fins, we see a lot of excess. I can certainly see the appeal of this: But something like this: Is lighter, safer and much more efficient. This is much better for the environment. When making these sort of comparisons, we need to compare like to like, It is not fair to compare a stately home with a modern suburban tract home. In the same way, the car of an ultra rich person of the early 1900s, should be compared to the car of an ultra rich person today, not a Honda Civic. Finally, keep in mind other areas where design has progressed. Perhaps we like historic homes, but what about this? Or this: These may be popular at costume balls or similar events, but I don't see much push to bring these back for daily life.

What sick and affordable car mods would you suggest for a 2010 Honda Civic 4dr EX Automatic?

Absolutely none. “Sick mods” ,always, hinder performance, safety, efficiency, resale value, and/or aesthetics. You sound like you’re in high school. And an ,automatic,? Please.

What do Honda Civic drivers think of Honda CRX drivers?

Having been a Honda enthusiast for as long as I could drive, I’ve always respected Honda CR-X owners. To me, a CR-X owner is a purist that appreciates driving. A CR-X owner values minimalism both on aesthetics and engineering. Especially in this day in age where fun to drive cars are more abundant than ever, when you see a Honda CR-X driver, you know they’re in it for a reason because there’s just so many other options out there. Whether it’s nostalgia, the simplicity, the raw feel of driving a noisy 2000lb car without power steering or any kind of driver aids, it’s only natural to respect a CRX driver. We’re currently restoring a 1991 Honda CRX Si. Check it out at ,www.restorationcrx.com

Why don’t cheap car companies like Toyota and Honda make good looking cars?

Sukyana is very correct. The cost of revising an automobile and retooling the line is enormous. Automakers invest a lot of effort and money in model styling, however if it’s a lower-end model, there are often compromises made in order to keep a model in production as long as possible. This can include retaining the basic styling for several years or just refreshing a model by changing a few minor things, like taillights, grilles and accents. As for Japanese styling conventions, they have typically been less “stylish” and more functional for generations. Part of this is due to trying to “style” a compact model. Attractive lines on a car don’t flow as well, when they must be truncated to accommodate a smaller model. Sometimes Japanese stylists will compensate for this by adding little devices, such as an awkwardly placed vent, a sharp line angle where it doesn’t belong or a fake scoop or spoiler. They are in fact doing the best with what they’ve got, and there’s only so much style you can pack into a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla. Part of this is also related to the Japanese culture and home market. In Japan, they have an aggressive vehicle recycling program, where car owners receive a substantial incentive to turn in their cars for recycling after a few years, in exchange for credit towards a new model. Because of this, there is less of a “car culture” and attachment to their vehicles, as we have in the U.S. Because of this, cars in Japan are viewed more as consumer items than in the United States. People in the U.S. keep their cars longer (average car life in the U.S. is over 11 years) and with less use of public transportation, we spend more time in our cars. With this in mind, Americans almost develop a type of relationship with their car, and as with any relationship, aesthetics is important.

Whats the smartest modification you made to your vehicle?

I am an avid fan of the ,Honda Civic,. In the past ten years, all the cars I bought or changed were Honda Civics. I think the smartest modification I have ever done is to convert several of my Honda Civics into several cool models: The second and tenth-generation Honda Civics have been modified into ,two performance-based Type R versions, a Honda Civic with shocking Lamborghini-style scissor doors. ,Even,,, I modified my eighth-generation Honda Civic to make it look like ,a brand new tenth-generation Civic,. The smartest and most surprising modification is I once converted my Honda Civic into, the fastest car in East India,. Are you curious about how it is modified? Just look at my following experience and you will know. I have modified a Honda Civic that is the ultimate sleeper worth 500,000 Mod When I bought the Honda Civic, I knew exactly what I had to do. I once converted my Honda Civic into the fastest car in East India. In addition, I also kept the aesthetic appearance of the sleeper car unchanged, making this modification a unique modification. Wow! More interestingly, this modified Honda Civic can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in less than 8 seconds. It does require some serious modification to reach these numbers. This is the conversion tool for cars to become the fastest Civic in East India. The engine block of the original Honda Civic has an inner diameter of 81mm. The Honda Civic has a 90 mm inner hole, which ensures greater displacement and thus greater power. The intake and exhaust ports are treated with ports and polished appropriately to improve efficiency. The piston size is larger, and a high-lift camshaft is also added. Regular tires have been replaced by Yokohama 205/60 R performance tires. I also replaced the original brake pads on the Civic with high-performance EBC brake pads. This ensures that the fastest Civic is stopped when needed. I ensure that the suspension system can supplement the power, making it stronger than before. The modified Honda City now uses high-octane fuel to achieve the best output. The entire modification fee cost me ₹500,000. And observe the work done on this beast, it must be reasonable. The Civic Type R variant has gained benchmark status for several generations because its relatively affordable price tag, aggressive appearance, and other external enhancements make it a must-have choice for every driving enthusiast. Not surprisingly. This prompted me to modify my cars to make them look more beautiful. The tenth-generation Honda Civics has been customized as a performance-based Type R version This does not prevent enthusiastic Civic owners from modifying their cars to give them a gorgeous appearance. Since the ordinary Type R has a body kit and enhanced style on the standard model, it will not be a problem to incorporate authenticity into the mix in the tenth-generation Civic. As you can see, Radiant Red Metallic paint works well with overall customization. At the front, the bumper kit has a larger air intake and a lower black lip spoiler, as well as a black frame for the circular fog lights. The blackened hood shovel and the piano black around the headlights and grille add sparkle to the custom Honda Civic Type R. Except for the black side skirts and a new set of two-tone machined wheels, the side profile is the same as the standard model. The rear of the body kit has a bumper with a larger air outlet, and in the middle is a black diffuser part with three air outlets. ,The huge boot integrated spoiler together with the black and double-bubble spoiler-finished roof ,has attracted attention. I used to spend 300,000 rupees to buy mods, which is undoubtedly surprising I converted my second-generation Honda Civic into an R-type Honda Civic. This Civic is the 2019 i-VTEC model. These modifications are only decorative, without any internal and mechanical changes. ,All major components such as bumpers, skirts, and spoilers are imported from Sholinganallur's API cars., Custom painting work is also done by API Automotive. The improved Civic is equipped with a mirror and a carbon fiber hood. There are also black highlights on the car's fender. Other modifications include 18-inch staggered 8J/9J Veeman wheels (with different front and rear widths), Michelin pilot sports tires-235/40/18 at the front, and 245/40/18 at the rear. The Honda Civic Type R also has colored windows and ceramic coating. The only modification made to the engine components is to customize the BMC air filter to replace the spare air filter. I once converted a Honda Civic into a Honda Civic with shocking Lamborghini-style scissor doors In terms of car modification, Kerala’s gasoline head will not leak at all, and this ultra-radical Honda Civic proves this. The Civic I once modified ,is full of bright and loud elements. According to my modification memories: First of all, the elegant gray paint job makes the car stand out from the crowd. Most body modifications are focused on the anterior fascia. There is a ridge on the bonnet that neatly forms a hexagonal grid. There are many ventilation holes in the bumper and a striking black chin partition. The headlights have also been modified to fit the modified front end. Side changes include side skirts with small vents near the rear wheel arches, large alloy wheels with low-profile tires, sports rearview mirrors, and Lamborghini-style scissor front doors. There is a custom LED combination light on the rear panel, which seems to be inspired by the old Mercedes E-Class. The new rear bumper is equipped with two exhaust ports (one or both of which may be fake) and a black diffuser with F1-type LED lights. The transformer badges on both ends complete the design. The old Honda Civic I used to modify looks as interesting as the new one I used to own an eighth-generation Honda Civic. I modified the car to make it look like a brand new tenth-generation Civic. The modification work completely changed the front and rear ends of the vehicle. The front of the car uses a single-thickness grille to give the new face a new look, which can be seen in the new Civic and all other new Honda cars. Even the bumper of the vehicle has been updated to look more aggressive. The bumper of the car has also been updated to a new version with a more powerful appearance. Ordinary headlights have been replaced by new headlights with LEDs, and the appearance is more fashionable. Many changes have been made to the rear of the car to make it look like a new generation Honda Civic,. The back uses a new C-shaped LED taillight, which looks very close to today's Honda Civic. In addition, in order to make the "R-shaped" badge on the front grille neater, it has installed a huge spoiler on the trunk lid. The eighth-generation Honda Civic looks quite elegant, while the latest-generation Civic is completely aggressive. Both vehicles have their own charm.

Why do people put huge wheels on cars that came with small wheels when it does not help with any of the vehicles purposes & is a safety issue?

As with many answers on Quora, ,before you ask why, ask if,. Larger wheels are not necessarily a “safety issue”. And they may or may not help with “any of the vehicles purposes”. How is a larger diameter wheel a safety issue? Sure, if they’re too much bigger they can increase stopping distance, and if they’re cheap wheels they may be heavier than stock, which can decrease performance, but no one is reporting your Toyota Corolla as a safety issue because it can’t stop as well as a Supra, are they? Most people who upgrade the wheels on their car do so for performance; they purchase lightweight forged wheels to replace heavy steel or cast wheels. They may upsize, but usually do what we call “plus sizing”, in which the tire profile is reduced to account for the increase in wheel diameter. That’s necessary because otherwise your speedometer will be inaccurate. There’s an example of plus sizing. Often-times, people will increase wheel diameter to fit larger brake rotors, like this picture: Notice how the wheels just barely clear the rotors? According to Grassroots Motorsports, a respected industry publication: “The concept of running upsized wheels is nothing new. Two decades ago, in fact, we published our first plus-size tire test. It ran in the January 1987 issue, and we used a then-new Pontiac Trans-Am and a bunch of Firestone Firehawk tires at the University of Texas in Arlington. Our test data showed that bigger was better as the larger tires performed best in every category measured. The Plus Two 245/50R16 combo was faster than the 215/65R15 Plus One and 205/70R14 Plus Zero setups. (And for a little terminology, a Plus One setup features a wheel diameter that is one inch larger than stock; Plus Two would be two inches bigger, and so forth. The Plus Zero term is used when fatter than stock tires are paired with the original wheel diameter; these fatter tires feature a lower aspect ratio so the outside tire diameter doesn’t change.) We ran another plus-size tire test in the January/February 1999 issue of GRM, this time using a 1998 Honda Civic EX coupe owned by Koni’s Lee Grimes. That test was done at The Tire Rack’s old headquarters in South Bend, Ind. Despite a totally different car plus another decade in tire technology, the results were the same. The Plus Three 215/40R17 Dunlop SP Sport tires were faster than Plus Two, Plus One and Plus Zero setups. Slight penalties in ride comfort, weight and acceleration were offset by improvements in grip and transient response.”, They also give this nifty and useful chart: That tells us that wheel weight is probably responsible for most of the changes for most people (the 18-inch wheels are significantly heavier than the 16s and 17s), and that otherwise, larger wheels with slimmer tires perform better than smaller wheels with larger tires at the cost of a harsher ride. It also points out that this is ,really, complicated. There’s lots of factors that matter - wheel and tire weight, tire compound, tire pressure, brake disc size, pavement smoothness… There’s TONS of stuff that comes into this equation. Even final drive ratio and effective final drive ratio are effected; there was an SCCA team that won first and second in their class two years in a row by downsizing to a 15″ wheel instead of the factory 16″ wheels, because it effectively reduced their gearing and improved acceleration enough to give them an edge over their competitors. After two years of that, the SCCA changed the rules to prevent that trick. So that’s the 10,000 foot view of the science. It boils down to there being advantages and disadvantages, depending on your situation. From an aesthetics point of view, well, taste is a matter of personal opinion. I, personally, think cars look better when you fill the wheel well with wheel, like this: Than it does with smaller wheels like this: Of course, I think that the HUGE wheels look ridiculous - the “dubs” and larger, like this: I can tell you for a fact that those are incredibly heavy, have a terrible ride quality, and negatively affect performance a great deal. But as the sayings go, “There’s no accounting for taste” and “To each their own.”

Will electric cars eventually stop having grilles in their design?

While EV’s do still need some airflow, it is significantly less. I suspect some cars will still retain a faux grill just for aesthetics, for the most part it will not serve a functional purpose. It’ll be a bit like those stupid spoilers people add to Honda Civics, I suppose.

What are some good car accessories for a Honda Civic?

My sources tell me that you can veritably build a Honda Civic from the ground up with the plethora of accessories that the aftermarket has. For instance, there are engine kits and even whole engines that will fit the Civic that can be ordered in any state of tune, and even certain swaps to upgraded engines can be made. For aesthetics, there are wiring kits, interior kits, car stereos, custom seats, and who knows what else. Then there are the Body Kits: spoilers, sport slats, custom wheel wells; custom wheels, lighting kits; auxiliary gauges. Turbochargers, Superchargers; and who knows what else. For a while, there were even specialty magazines for Sport Compact cars that could tell you where you can get these “goodies” The SUV craze has cut into the Sport Compact craze. All I can say is, is that if you think you would want to take a Honda Civic and customize it, YOUR POCKETS HAD BETTER BE AS DEEP AS THE MARIANAS OCEAN TRENCH!
